parents are generally homophobic, but their views have shifted somewhat since I came out.

My parents are supportive/non-judgmental of gay people. Their view is basically "What should you care what other people are doing with their life? It doesn't affect you. Let people live their lives." My older brother is gay and they had no problem accepting it. It's kind of hilarious to see my dad sitting in the passenger seat trying to look cool while my brother is driving with Born This Way blaring loudly though. When I was younger they told me I could be with whoever I wanted to be with and as long as they loved me and treated me right they would accept it (I'm straight though).

My sisters know I am gay and don't care/are supportive. Socially liberal.

My parents are respectful to most people and judge based on character usually. I think my mom would accept me, she really is live and let live. My dad on the other hand though. He doesn't care if other people are gay, but if he were to ever find out about me.

And my sisters and my brother they found it like sort of a joke or something. Just because they know the really feminine ones...

But my mom and one of my sisters are becoming more accepting... (because they sort of know I am gay)

They're against it. I've tried to persuade them to at least think about supporting it or even giving the idea some thought. It's useless so I just gave up and don't really talk about it with them. I'm a straight female.

Although they are ultimately against homosexuality, the older people in my family still love me; however, it is comforting to know that my generation is doing so much better than theirs did on the subject.

My mom and aunt are alright but can be accidentally insensitive, my sister is my hag, and the rest are a resounding no.

My brothers and my parents and totally fine with it. My mom actually loves it because she always wanted a daughter and I guess she thinks this is the next best thing.

My extended family on the other hand is awful. Two of my uncles are extremely homophobic and their wives don't say anything about it. When I came out to them, they just left the room. I don't waste my time around them anymore.

Still, I consider myself pretty luck as far as having family support. Especially when reading some of the posts here. Best of luck to all of you.

My dad was weird a few years ago. He would always call me and my brother ***** when we did something wrong and then he would always bash and make fun of gay people. Even though his brother was gay. My mom would make fun of it, but I think that was just to fit in with things my brother would say. When I came out to my mom, she cried because she didn't want me to think I was homophobic. She's fine with it now. Supports it 100%. My dad was the best. I told him and he said "I don't give a **** if you **** Brandy or if you **** Brad". Now they both are really good with it. They don't make it awkward and are really supportive about it

Some of them (my parents and two brothers) actually just found out I'm bi a few weeks ago. They've expressed concern, but haven't really harangued me about it. My older brother was pretty supportive, actually.

Even one time when we were at a restaurant, someone next to us had a gay waiter and was completely rude to him and was saying homophobic comments while he was gone. My dad actually told the guy (other diner) something among the lines of "he's serving you the food you're paying for and is being completely polite. The least you can do is return the favor. His sexuality doesn't affect the food that you're ordering. Treat him with respect." then asked if we could switch waiters so everyone was comfortable.

One thing to ass. My brother is in complete denial about my sexuality. He always tells me that "I don't think it is the right lifestyle for you", and insists that I have been influenced by the ignorance of the world. He also says that one day he is going to bring home a hooker to have sex with me. I do not take him seriously.
