John Mayer seems far and way the likely next act to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, as his "Born and Raised" set should easily debut atop the list next week. Industry prognosticators suggest the album will sell around 230,000 to 250,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, May 27.
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, May 30.
John Mayer, "Born and Raised": Track-By-Track Review
As for the rest of the top 10 next week, Christian band MercyMe seems on course for its second top 10 album as "The Hurt & the Healer" could sell perhaps 30,000 to 50,000. The act's last studio set, 2010's "The Generous Mr. Lovewell," debuted and peaked at No. 3 with 88,000 sold in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Guitar god Slash may be in line for the third-highest bow with "Apocalyptic Love" (featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators). It seems likely to sell 30,000 to 40,000. Singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles' new five-song EP, "Once Upon Another Time," could start in the top 10 as well, with somewhere around 30,000.

On Nielsen SoundScan's Building chart (below), Mayer is No. 1 while Adele's "21" stands at No. 2. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants. Bareilles is at No. 3, Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away" is in fourth place and Slash is No. 5.
One Direction's "Up All Night" is No. 6, followed by Lionel Richie's "Tuskegee," Kimbra's new "Vows" album and the "Now 42" compilation at Nos. 7-9, respectively. Rounding out the top 10 is "Glee, the Music: Season 3 - The Graduation Album" at No. 10.

Carrie is expected for #4?
I hope that doesn't mean her sales are suppose to be less than originally estimated either.

BB underestimated her last week, I'm not surprised they are possibly doing that again this week

For a rap album, selling +2M these days is an heroic deed unless you're Eminem.

I know, but not every rapper was selling 5M and 6M units. I believe LL Cool J's highest seller was about 2.8 million, for example.
