Elly is simply arguing that what the radio plays tends to appeal to the lowest common denominator, and that in order to find really good music, you have to leave the confines of the radio.
Yes, there have been some very good songs getting radio play lately (LYLALS, STIUTK), but for the most part it's the same, average music.
