SOS & Pon De Replay didn't make her famous, lol. She was basically a singles artist then. Umbrella was the song that catapulted her career and made her a superstar. The same goes for the album it came off of.

RR didn't perform THAT bad. Even RR went Top 10 in almost every country, plus the album had Rude Boy which saved it, so shee was already reestablished before OG came out.

AGLM did well, but she wasn't a force to be reckoned with until Umbrella came around.

She was still on rocky ground after Rated R, though. Only Girl was the driving force in her reestablishment as an international pop force. Yes, other songs from Loud could have done it, but the fact is that Only Girl was that song. Hence why I chose it.

The only reason anyone knew of Rihanna before "Umbrella" was because of those songs. So they made her famous. "Umbrella" did catapult her already existing fame into superstar status.

OG didn't establish anything, it was a big hit but to the general public, she never had left the top of the charts. Two-three months of "just top 10" chart performance from RR to the release of RB didn't leave anybody, outside some crazed nay-sayers, saying she had gone anywhere.

I agree with this. GGGB really made her a superstar. I wouldn't be mad at OG being on the list either bc it was a step in the right direction (commercially) after RR.

I wish we could go to an alternate dimension and see what album #4 would have been if it hadn't been Rated R/if the incident never happened.
