Did we lie? Just because she has creative control doesn't mean that she directs all her own videos, melina directed YDO, Rihanna is not listed as director or co-director. So yes melina is the one to blame.
And I find it hilarious how whenever Rihanna gets accused of stealing the blame falls on the video director, but say if this was any other pop star the blame would fall on them instead.
We could say the exact same thing regarding her albums. At the end of the day its Rihanna's music video for Rihanna's song, not Melina's. Whether she directed the video or not she still has the right to approve and change it if she doesn't like it. They've already gotten lawsuits about this before so IDK why Rihanna is keeping her around.

We can't even assume it was Melina's idea. Sure, she brought the visuals to life, but on paper the ideas could've easily came from Rihanna. We will never know.
Also, It isn't hard for an artist to ask a video director if they're using someone's work for their music videos.
Rihanna obviously should've fired Melina ages ago. Is she that out of loop with their own music?
