People saying that Gaga doesn't create art is ludicrous. You can say that you don't think it's well-executed, but it's certainly art. I'm just not sure what narrow definitions of art you people have implanted within your brains.
p.s. If you think this post is suggesting that making money is Gaga's primary art, you didn't understand it.

Why are you always so rude and.. um.. condescendent? You think you are so smart and you're just a Justin Bieber fan.

more so, i think it's her label/management that's behind everything she does and they try to milk her hard while she lasts. nothing she's ever done seemed genuine to me.
preaching for gays was what initially caught my attention and at first I got intrigued by it, but then she started overdoing it and I saw her doing live speeches on the subject and it all sounded so fake and forced that I realized she was doing it only to get herself a fanbase.
to this day, i think everything she does is for attention. there's no explanation behind her bizarre looks and even if there were, the general public doesn't give a flying ****; to them it's just a costume that grabs attention. some stans may feel desperate to justify a particular look, so they go and research it and even then, there's still hardly any meaning. like when she was asked about the meat dress, she gave about 4 or 5 absolutely different explanation in various interviews on why she wore. she can't even stick to one explanation, so no wonder it comes out as fake.

Like I said, I do think some of her art is questionable and she quickly gives it a profound meaning to come off deep (i.e. the meat dress and the egg at the Grammys) but for the most part there is a meaning behind what she does. She studied art in school, it's apart of her backround and what she knows. Gaga has brought a high artistic quality to mainstream pop.
Do you even know what that performance meant?

That performance had different explanations/intertwining **** which discredits everything she said about it.

But at the same time we can Katy Perry creates art (which is very true) but most of the people here would discredit. All musical forms are "art" but to very varying degrees. The things Gaga does try too hard to be "artsy art," if that makes any sense.
And on the topic of money, Gaga exploits the **** out of her fans for money.

I didn't mean to be rude. I'm generally like this when I'm involved in conversations that I've had many times before: I expect that others were present when I had them the other 200 times.

She HAS talked about it in that she said she's doesn't believe in God in the religious sense, and that BTW's religious references are really about harnessing and "worshipping" your own strengths instead so that you can be reborn into the best version of yourself, which is basically what Stefani did in becoming Gaga.

If everything she does was decided by her label/management in the interest of maximizing profit, she wouldn't even be paying the gays lip service. She has sacrificed a great deal of commercial appeal by being such an open advocate.

She does this a lot. I remember she had like fifty hundred different explanations for the meaning of Poker Face (the song) and I wanted to slap her. First it was about an addiction, then it was about bisexuality, then it was about oral sex, then it was about a relationship, then it was about the music industry.

But this is one of the things I love most about her because she totally plays into the subjective nature of interpreting art? Art doesn't have to have one, singular objective meaning. She wouldn't be the postmodern pop star, otherwise.

Ummm how so? that VMA performance was how fame kills, and it does, literally. The video to 'Paparazzi' also plays off that same theme, at the end of the performance you hear camera lens shooting, basically saying that even in death a celebrity is still not shielded from the dangers of fame. When Princess Diana was killed, the paparazzi had no shame and still took photos of her while she laid lifeless in her car. Much like Gaga hanging lifeless after that performance and even in death the paparazzi still consumed her.
And Gaga doesn't exploit her fans for money, if that's the case then it can be said for all artists.

Total truth. Which popstar today is ready to take a risk and sacrifice their career for something positive? None so far but she did it with the new Album.

....? I'm not picking up what you're putting down, here. Just because the meaning of something isn't obvious at first glance doesn't mean it's doesn't exist or that the project is a failure.

Or it just says that she has no clue what she is doing and what she is trying to say. There is no cohesive unit to any of her explanations which makes her "art" baseless. Which is fine but don't tell me that you are trying to change the world if you don't even know what you are trying to say.
