I'm going to have to stamp a big DISAGREE on that article... I think Adele was cheated. She was nominated for so much, yet won nothing... The RITD video was brilliant, classy, and artistic, and should most definitely have won something.

Adele won the most awards of the night.
3 Moonmen collected.

First: Who cares for the quality of a MV? RITD won so many awards with a "bad" video... BTW's video wasn't that good, but she won Best Female.
Second: Some people think that Gaga should have been nominated in every category (Best Hip Hop/Best Male/Breakthrough Artist - why not?).
Third: Even if she was nominated in a VOTE Category she would have won! In my opinion her videos this era were aweful, but Little Monsters are EVERYWHERE!
Forth: Stop being so pressed! Katy WON VOTY, get over it!

This year, she received only one nomination at first -– for best female video -– compared to nine for Perry, but then the Video Music Awards added the new category for best video with a message.

she wasn't cheated, she cheated it was kind of obvious why that category was added

An overwhelming percentage of respondents at our Awards Tracker poll believe Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" would have won the Moonman for best video of the year if it had been nominated.
When asked if "Born This Way" would have beaten Katy Perry's "Firework" -– which claimed the top prize Sunday night -- 74% (1,675 votes out of 2,267) said "Absolutely. Yes. Definitely" while 26% (592 votes) said "Nooooo way." There is strong evidence to back up the majority belief: "Born This Way" bested "Firework" in the two categories where they competed -– best female video and best video with a message. The latter category was hurriedly added to the lineup after nominations were unveiled and widespread outrage erupted over the fact that "Born This Way" didn't make the top race.
There's a strong possibility that MTV wanted a new diva to dominate this year's awards after Lady Gaga romped with eight victories in 2010. This year, she received only one nomination at first -– for best female video -– compared to nine for Perry, but then the Video Music Awards added the new category for best video with a message.
When nominations were announced and Lady Gaga fared so poorly, Awards Tracker polled readers to get their views. About 84% of respondents (4,655 voters out of 5,529) checked off this response: "MTV wants to crown a new pop diva so they rigged the vote results to favor Katy Perry."

I think MTV made a mistake though, and tried to correct it.....
They clearly wanted to be the VMA Queen, but I think they shortly realized that she could not sustain the hype going into the show, or carry and big headlines afterwords- which would be a disaster for the VMAs considering they are ALL hype and headlines.....
I think MTV tried to fix this mistake by HEAVILY promoting Gaga as the opening act with her 'epic, history making' performance, and also by promoting Brit's tribute a decent amount....
And they just lucked out that Beyoncé announced she was prego.

If Britney, GaGa or Rihanna would have done something like RITD, they would have had a better chance at winning, so sit. Regardless of quality, it all boils down to having fans who are willing to sit up all day and night powervoting on their slow internet connections, and Adele fans skew much older.

That don't mean ****.
With this unintelligent logic, we should be handing Jennifer Lopez the VOTY Moonman for "On the Floor."
The views **** on "Firework."
