If we can have open conversations about how much Lady Gaga copies Madonna, among others (which she does), why can't we have an open conversation about how, for example, Ke$ha wouldn't exist without Gaga? I've been saying this since Animal's release. Gaga copies Madonna, but she wasn't created as a direct result of Madonna's recent success. She copies Madonna because Madonna did amazing things in the past, not because Madonna is
hot right now. Gaga is like a movie which looks for inspiration from the '70s and '80s - there is at least something creative about that. Ke$ha, on the other hand, was created as a direct result of Gaga's success. Ke$ha is like a raunchy comedy they slap together in 6 months because a raunchy comedy like The Hangover did well so they want to capitalize on a current trend.
I'm glad Rolling Stone agrees.
