britneyspears Britney Spears
Just want to thank my incredible army of supporters all over the world for embracing Femme Fatale. You are my everything. -Brit
Yeah the bigger injustices are that a lot of her other albums are under-certified. I don't mind this over certification too much as I do believe it will get there or close to it so the certification will eventually be justified. But the fact that Britney, In The Zone, Blackout and even Circus are all under certified is much more annoying to me. It must be because Jive is super cheap and doesn't want to pay for them. I even think OIDIA is under-certificed now as well.
14.2 million BOMT -> 14x Platinum (Diamond)
10.6 million OIDIA -> 11x Platinum (Diamond)
4.8 million Britney -> 5x Platinum
2.9-3.5 million In The Zone -> 3-4x Platinum
1.3 million GH:MP -> Platinum
990k Blackout -> Platinum
1.7 million Circus -> 2x Platinum
450k Femme Fatale -> Gold
Total certifications: 38.5-39.5 million domestic sales
...Baby One More Time 14x Platinum Oops!... I Did It Again 10x Platinum Britney 4x Platinum (should be 5x Platinum) In The Zone 2x Platinum (should be 3x Platinum) Greatest Hits: My Prerogative Platinum Blackout Uncertified (should be Platinum) Circus Platinum Femme Fatale Platinum *new*
Total: 33x Platinum (should be 36x Platinum)
That means she's close to 40 million in the US and they have been saying '32 million' for years now.
Why do labels do this? They just certified Jennifer Hudson's album gold and she hasn't even sold 300k. Yeah, I know about shipments, but it seems that labels are trying to cover up dismal sales.
Thats different. J-Hud only has 200k more to sell, and they did that will Rated R when it was around 700k. But when you're at 440k and your certified platinum, that is weird.

Because the album will sell 1 million copies or come extremely close. It's got hits that will keep it alive if promotion doesn't, unlike "Amy" killing Circus.
And Rated R had sold 463,000 copies when it was certified Platinum at the beginning of 2010, and it took another 9 months before it reached Platinum.
I want Goodbye Lullaby's platinum certification too
RCA would probably do it if that were possible. At this point, it's not. And that'll cost them to more to buy a cert, if the album's not making profit.
LMFAO @ ya’ll acting as if won’t go platinum and as if other artists’ labels don’t do this.
@ Jive. “Britney” is 5X Platinum, “In the Zone” is 3X Platinum, and “Blackout” is Platinum, "Circus" shipped 2 million, yet they certify “Femme Fatale” in advance.
