Gaga has had a level of success every one of her eras.....just because she isn't the massive force she was 2009-2011 anymore doesn't mean she isn't still a successful, big star. Rih and Bey all changed up their usual sounds, 'took risks' by delving into acting and different genres of music. Both have been doing these things for years.

She's an icon so if she wants to be a legend then she needs to stand the test of time and be able to survive more than one phase of pop music.

I think she actually has a lot to prove to be honest unless she's fine with being an icon (which is a great thing to)

She was a one era wonder though. A wonder being an actual force. BTW relied on the huge hype from her debut, and fell flat after that wore off.

ARTPOP was a disaster critically and commercially and based of the reception of PI, Joanne won't be doing any better.


Oh and actually Kesha could be seen as on the same level as Gaga. A huge debut, an EP with other huge songs, a big lead single from her sophomore then everything else falling flat.

At least Kesha still has somewhat interest left as she scored a massive hit with Timber not too long ago.

Beyonce has been in the industry like 9 years longer than Gaga, she hardly took a risk with her sound 8 years into her career.

Rihanna is one of the only ones I'd say started showing some growth at this point in her career, but still not quite to the extent Gaga has...releasing jazz albums, having an entirely different sound for this album, etc.

And even Madonna and (to a less extent Mariah and maybe Janet who finally released a great album again) are still trying to prove something with their works decades into their careers. Pop artists should always be hungry and constantly evolve. It's a lifelong passion, not a resume completion. Gaga still has a lot more to prove considering how shot-lived her imperial years were.
