What if this was planned all along? What if she originally planted that statement about being opposed to wearing fur knowing that later she could use it for publicity?
The more pressing thing is how she so quickly and suddenly seems to change her views - she once seemed so adamant about this. The fur thing is just one example of this, her attitude about celebrity and hollywood is another.
It makes it clear that a lot of the time Gaga just says whatever will make her accepted at the time, and then moves on to something else when she needs to be positioned accordingly. Even as a fan I can see that.
I am choosing not to comment on whether or not the furs I purchase are faux fur-pile or real because I would think it hypocritical not to acknowledge the python, ostrich, cow hide, leather, lamb, alligator, "kermit" and not to mention meat, that I have already worn.

Even if the fur was real, which idk, why is she being attacked so much NOW? She's worn MEAT in the past.
It's the process of it. Meat is something we all eat and buy at the grocery store. Furs are something that are specifically tailored for nothing other than fashion. Which in a lot of people's minds does not justify the slaughtering of animals.
Enough of this, its so over and done with. If we cared about the hungry kids in Africa as much as we cared about what Gaga wears on a daily basis, then maybe we'd have gotten some stuff done out there.
