I didn't really used to like "Stop" back when I was younger, but I have no idea why now, because the chorus is
almost as awesomely infectious as "Wannabe."
"Goodbye" is a great, unexpected choice. I don't really think of the Spice Girls as balladeers, but most of my favorite songs from their catalog are the ballads: "Goodbye," "2 Become 1," "Viva Forever," even "Mama" and "Too Much."

I cut my pop music teeth on the Spice Girls. I have so many special memories associated with each song. I remember watching the video for "Say You'll Be There" with my then BFF and having arguments over which girl was most badass. And I remember how I camped out for a week on the couch during a bout with the flu; tv tuned to VH1, just waiting for them to play "2 Become 1". And I remember getting in trouble for singing along with such a suggestive song. And when my mom wasn't scolding me for being too faggy, I was up in my room, working on literal choreography for "Stop".

The Spice Girls were the beginning of my pop music obsession as well! Before Britney was in my life, there was Geri Halliwell. I remember going to Tower Records to buy
Spice and
Backstreet Boys, and then sitting in the living room and listening to both albums all the way through, trying to follow along in the lyrics booklets.
How's this for an embarrassing childhood memory? My sister and I would put together elaborate improvised shows—complete with singing, dancing, costumes, props, etc.—to entire albums. When we performed
Spice, I found a nude/pink leotard in our dress-up box and did an interpretative dance to "Naked"...
