But Miley's promotion wasn't exactly positive now, was it? "No publicity is bad publicity" is a completely wrong statement, very few people are going to go out to buy an album by someone who is constantly in the headlines for the reasons Miley was, and she very likely lost a massive chunk of her existing fanbase. I'd actually say her albums sales were surprisingly high, considering her situation.
The whole "tongue-out, twerking all night, look at me I'm naked on a wrecking ball!" image doesn't exactly appeal to album buyers.
