Kelly Clarkson openly supports Ron Paul, Katy had questionable lyrics, and Kesha didn't give two ***** until a few gay kids killed themselves. I think the question is who is disingenuous (Katy, Kesha, Britney) and who isn't (Gaga, Madonna)?
Are you serious, Britney ALWAYS was here for the gays. NSYNC member Lance Bass even came out to her before he came out to the world.
And leave Britney alone. She hardly comments on the matter at hand. And before you go there, that doesn't mean she dislikes her gay fans or doesn't support them.

Britney Spears on Gay Marriage: 'I Think Everyone Should Be Treated Equally'
People really need to listen to the lyrics of that song. She isn't saying "Ew, you're a ****ing gay, get out, I hate gays" She's saying that her boyfriend is metrosexual but she prefers men who act like men in a relationship, that's all. I mean, she clearly has no problem with the gay community based on the type of music she makes and who she is friends with...

Receipts? Pretty sure Katy was telling her twitter followers to vote in favour of that Californian bill on Gay marriage the other year. Either that or stating that she did vote in favour of it or something..
Only one I can think of is Prince since he publically bashed being gay. (Personally I think he is, he just said that to downplay him always being called gay)
Justin Bieber isn't homophobic, he gives m closet case.
Chris Brown is a huge sissy imo too.

I remember she was asked how would her reaction be if one of her children is gay and her response was very supportive.
Another time, she won an Award during Circus era, she didn't attend the show, in the pre-recorded acceptance speech she dedicated the Award to the gay fans.
As far as pop artists go, the only one that comes to mind is Bieber.
I've never heard of any major country artists supporting gay rights, but I imagine quite a number of them do and they just don't talk about it because they're country artists. The closest to pro-gay support I've ever seen in country is Taylor's "Mean" video.
EDIT: Dolly Parton has apparently been very public with her support of gay rights.
Jennifer Nettles, Reba Mcentire, Martina McBride, and Faith Hill have all spoken out in their support of their gays fans and the community. And Taylor Swift as well.
Some artists will go that extra mile and become activists(GaGa, Madonna, Cyndi) and others are just like everyday people who believe in equal rights for all and have no problem saying so(Ke$ha, Britney, Kelly, Katy, Christina etc). I have some friends who take an active part and some who don't, but with all of them I know they are pro-gay rights.
And then on the other side, the more "unsure" side, you have artists that will say "I love my gay fans they are always the most passionate, they dress up blah blah" but stop short of making a political statement, or voice support for equality in any facet. But that has a lot to do with their target demographic.

I'm sorry, but following up "Ur So Gay" with "I Kissed a Girl", only to try to make up the difference on the double standard in her Firework video when she was called out on it (after the damage was done) is vastly disingenuous and hypocritical. So by her view, it's only okay for the gays to be effeminate seeing as there's not the remote possibility of her ****ing them. Straight/Bi guys being effeminate? Not on her watch, apparently.
Like it or not, emo and metrosexuality are forms of self-expression, and thus her nauseatingly self-absorbed and petty proclamation of emo being "over" in her high school concert speech are coming from a place of bigotry. She's imposing her constructs of sexuality on everyone else and its ****ing ********.
The entire irony behind this is not only did her ex blow guys for his cocaine addiction but is a walking billboard for metrosexuality.
Hands down, on this subject, she is the most hypocritical, intellectually stunted pop diva out there, and I will argue this with ANYONE.
There's a lot of debate right now regarding "identification" for the community that sees the alphabet soup of LGBTQQA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Asexual) are being overkill and actually backfiring in terms of general acceptance.
Then there's actually college courses known as "Queer Theory" on the the history of gay rights/analysis of sexuality in culture, etc. that's being debated in terms of the name because some claim the word's been "re-claimed" and some say it's still a loaded term and still inappropriate.
More of these conversations are happening now at an increasing rate with the recent culture war topics of things like DOMA, ENDA, and the recently struck down DADT.

What the **** are you on about? What does any of that have to do with her being homophobic or not in any way, shape or form? Can you listen to the song before judging it, please? I mean, actually listen. And not just to the hook, to all of the lyrics. You must not have listened to it if you feel like you do - or you can't have understood it ~Or if you did, you're clearly just bias against Katy and wont believe she has any good no matter what she does, if so, carry on.
It's an angry song about her ex-boyfriend, that's all. Why does no one call her out for promoting suicide in response to a partner leaving you? For insulting and abandoning drug addicts instead of helping them? For insulting men who are thick headed and stereotypically manly? (I'm Still Breathing/Circle The Drain/Mannequin) Get the **** over it. Everyone writes exaggerated, angry songs where they pick at their exes flaws and make them seem like massive issues, it doesn't mean anything in the long run.
I doubt she had much say in the Firework video, honestly. It was some European mobile telephone company (T-Mobile?) that funded it and stuff, so I highly doubt she was the one who planned it all in an effort to cover up her dirty metro/emophobic ways. So, according to you, you HAVE to be attracted to someone to be allowed to support them? You CANNOT write an angry song about an ex-boyfriend and then go on to support other people? That makes no sense at all.
So, because Katy is a popstar (bare in mind she was a flop who had been dropped 4 times and was almost at her 5th drop so she could hardly know anyone was going to hear the song so popstar is pushing it greatly) Katy isn't allowed to write songs about what she is attracted to, in case it forces people to think like her? What idiot is going to say "WELL, Katy has insulted guys who act Gay, and guys who act like guys, so I need to find a guy in the middle"? and even if someone did; so ****? How does it effect you? Did your girlfriend dump you because you acted like the guy in that song or something?
Hands down, on this subject, she is the most misunderstood, and wrongly despised, pop diva out there, and I will argue this with ANYONE.
(So, this post sounds good to my sleep deprived brain, no doubt I'll log on tomorrow and notice loads of spelling and grammar mistakes, yay..)
