He used country's biggest underdog, Chris Stapleton, on the night that Chris Stapleton was set to receive his first round of accolades from an awards show for his personal promotional gain. The performance was cringeworthy but Chris is the typical overlooked country-bumpkin that makes traditional country music that blows up every now and again (see: the Zac Brown Band) so he had enough power to make the performance a "hit." It'll all be forgotten by this time next week and the country world will go back to ignoring Chris before he's even three albums in to a genre known for longevity and loyalty.
