Best New Artist 12 - 9
Hey guys, sorry I haven't got the videos up yet, but I haven't been feeling very good lately. I do promise that the videos will be up tomorrow so make sure you check them out. Also Merry Christmas to everyone.(Or whatever other religious holiday you celebrate.)
12. Neon Trees
• Starting off my third set of artist at #12 is Neon Trees. I haven’t the slightest memory of when I discovered them. But whenever it was I know I’ve been hooked to their music ever since. I’ve been extremely impress by how well they’ve take off on pop radio with Animal and I really hope that 1983 gets the same amount of love. But I don’t have to work about Alternative format, 1983 has already taken off and is doing quite well. On my personal countdown Animal stayed for 9 weeks and peaked at #13.
11. The Ready Set
• In at the #15 spot is The Ready Set. It was either MTV or VH1, I first saw his video for Love Like Woe, but I really don’t care. The song has this fun energetic feel to it, despite the dark and strange video. With single #1 currently dying on radio I’m pull that More Than Alive gets picked up and not ignored. His first single had a Bulletproof run on my countdown. If you have watched the video, go watch the video for #’s 16 – 13.
10. Civil Twilight
• Starting off the top 10 is alternative rock band Civil Twilight. Two words Harper’s Island. Civil Twilight’s song Letters From the Sky was featured on CBS’s murder mystery show, during a scene where one of the characters commits suicide. Pretty dark stuff. Well this was back in 2009, their debut album was physically released until earlier this year, the torture! Anyways, their new single Anybody Out There needs to pick up on rock and alternative radio now. Letters from the Sky spent 15 weeks on my countdown earlier this year and reached the peak for 2 weeks straight.
9. Orianthi
• And finishing of this set of new artist is Australian singer Orianthi. Unlike most people, I’ve never seen the Michael Jackson movie and didn’t discover her through it. I heard According to You on the radio and feel in love with it. I was disappointed that Feels Like Home or Drive Away weren’t chosen to be her second single, but got over it when the deluxe edition of Believe came out. Addicted to Love and her current single Courage are my two favorite songs from her. According to You retired and peaked at #1 on my countdown, while Courage is on its way.
