market is shifting from SINGLES era from ALBUMS era... no point in comparing 80's and 2010's.... thats damn 30 years apart! alot of factors in between , if itunes were present then maybe all the singles from that album might have gone #1 but it never was... until now....

Back in MJ's day, albums could crack 20 million in the USA alone, these days, albums struggle to pass 5 X platnium.
Katy is almost at 2 X platnium, which is a very respectable amount, especially for someone who is meant to be a singles artist, Katy is slaying, no doubt about it.

Yeah surprise fall but not the biggest this year. Move Like Jagger fell down this year from a #8 debut to the 50s/60s the next week if I remember correctly.
