So basically you use the same humor they do, they're just actually getting paid for it. Poor that.

Not every deserving performance gets an Emmy nomination, does it? No matter how great she is on Getting On, literally noone watches that show. And the nominating process began way after they shot the first two episodes, and Niecy Nash was cast like 5 months before the nominees was announced. She was in a Murphy show and then she got nominated. Otherwise how can you justify Laurie Metcalf not being nominated, who is a previous Emmy winner and the lead in the same show

Go complain on Tumblr if you feel so strongly and let smart people who actually understand the context of a joke enjoy themselves.

Niecy Nash got an Emmy nom for the show Getting On, which is a dark, deadpan comedy about hospice nurses that airs on HBO.
There is no connection to Ryan Murphy there.

I can't tell if you're being serious with this or not.

"Scream Queens" is like the the Miley Cyrus of tv series:
all fluff and no substance, i.e. "Let's just be 'edgy,' just 'cause, guys."
Seriously, who falls for that type of "Scream Queen" writing, besides mindless idiots? Just asking.

So you're trying to say Niecy Nash, who is more famous and acclaimed than Ryan Murphy, only got recognition to be nominated for an Emmy from being on a flop show on FOX?

And @ Shonda Rhimes being your threshold for quality.

Nah, I watched the pilot, hated it. Therefore it deserves nothing but the most brutal cancellation ever.
Shonda Rhimes is a peerless empire with three of the biggest shows on TV right now (with a fourth coming up!). Where are Ryan's accomplishments? Only tweens and ditzy gays would think something like 'Scream Queens' is art

critics will be critics....
they get paid to have an opinion, doesn't mean they're right.

I think if you're going to do satire you have to be clever about it, otherwise it just looks stupid and try-hard. Anyway, the way the cultural climate is right now it's going to be hard to get people on board w/ this. Like, that mammy joke was pretty unnecessary and trying way to hard to be edgy.
Anyway, Ryan and those two other writers did horribly at this type of humor during Glee, so not surprised they're failing at it here. It doesn't bode well that these three are the only writers yet again.

I thought it was dumb; I wanted to like it, but I was just bored most of the time. I see what they were going for, but they just didn't quite get there.
