They really ****ed up releasing "Rock With U" to Pop. "Feedback" is officially dead.
31 31 JANET JACKSON Feedback 1983 1926 57 7.116
That's mainstream, and she's pratically dropping on rhythmic and urban now.
"Luv" would've been so much more of a follow-up. Great, another Janet era that'll die in 2 weeks.

I agree about "All Nite," to an extent. The 2008 sound is so different that they can't really be compared. AN is much more R&B to FB's hip-hop-esque sound.
However, "So Excited?" I just don't like that song, honestly. It reeks of '80s production... not that that's a bad thing, but cheap '80s production. I love Janet, but 20 YO was her worst album. Ever.

I'm not so sure. They killed these singles, but I'm guessing the album will do a lot better than her last two. Like, up to AFY/Velvet Rope level. Not where she was in her prime, but close. Mary J's singles didn't do so well, either, but her album still had excellent sales.

I really don't know why "Feedback" died, it's really a great song. Lack of promotion I think, the name Janet Jackson doesn't sell like Britney Spears. I think the video killed it for me, she doesn't dance like she use too.
I really love "Rock With You", it's my favorite song right now. It reminds me of Britneys "Breathe on Me". I could really hear the song in the clubs, its remix friendly and VERY HOT. I hope she kills it with the video

The thing about Mary is:
#1. she had promotion (iTunes, performing at awards)
#2. urban supported her
and she still has a large fanbase. Janet's fanbase slipped with "Damita Jo" and continued to slip with "20YO". you can't compare Mary and Janet at all. Mary isn't coming off 2 flop albums back to back. She bombed with Love & Life, but came back strong with "Be Without You" and The Breakthrough. So there.
"Feedback" isn't doing what "Be Without U" did for Mary. so therefore, I unfortunately believe this album is gonna flop worse than the last 2.
but as long as the music is good, i'm still gonna buy it. i didn't buy "20YO" tho.

I agree, Mary put "Just Fine" where it peaked. She really had to promote it for it to take off (which it never really did) which is what Janet had to do with "Feedback" but she didn't. Releasing another single won't help, Janet just has to face the music that her name doesnt sell anymore, she now has to work for it

Thank you.
Janet is no longer a name. It's sad cause, although I'm a Britney fan, she can sell albums and singles without doing a damn thing but be psycho and idiotic, yet Janet is stemming from a breast flip out from 4 years ago and still can't get any forgiveness?
But, then again, Britney is making good music. janet's last 2 albums have been mediocre and seemed rush.

1. I've never heard you say anything negative about Britney Spears before so that "psycho and idiotic" comment nearly knocked the wind out of me
2. The wardrobe malfunction cannot be blamed for her bad album sales. MTV dropped her like a hot potato, but I'm sticking to the argument that her last 2 albums were below par.
3. Regarding Mary J, you can't really compare her to Janet because they're different genres. Also, Female soul/R&B singers seem to have the market cornered and are immune to the sales decline (i.e. Alicia, Mary, Keyshia, Jill Scott, Corinne, etc.)

1. I've said many bad things about her. I'm not a loon fan like most of you here think. I know and can accept what Britney does to herself. I just make it seem like I don't cause of the ppl on this site.
2. I'm not blaming the malfunction on her flops, I'm just saying that was the key that unlocked her recent failures.
3. Very true.

Feedback is floppin because the song sucks... plain & simple. It was hyped and played because of who she is but once the song really got out there it bombed. Rock With U will be a hit overseas and maybe pop if she's lucky like Rihanna with DSTM. Luv, doesn't stand a chance on urban because its too poppy/girly... I'll be surprised if the song does something besides flop.

Me no likey Feedback.
LMFAO Playboy. Thanks for keeping it real. Unfortunately, Janet's new music just doesn't fit in the rotation for most Urban Stations, which is unfortunately for her, where most of her fanbase is and supports her at. I've heard "Feedback" multiple times on my local Pop Station, but i haven't heard it since it's "Premiere" on my local Urban station.
After she saw that "Feedback" was stalling, she should have gone back to the drawing board IMMEDIATELY, and came up with something more singleworthy IMO.

^wow, three of my favorite ATRL members posting one comment after the other. what are the odds? anyways, i agree with you guys about Feedback not being strong enough in terms of single material but i DO think it is a notch above So Excited and All Nite. Luv and Rock With U are good IMO, but stacked up to AFY or STCML, they miss the mark. I'm really hoping this cd lives up to the hype in these pages. I think J needs to start picking her singles more wisely too. Why did she choose COM and SE for 20 Y.O. when Show Me and Enjoy would've been smarter choices?

^Britney isn't flopping by no terms whatsoever. "Gimme More" went top 20 on radio, and #1 on iTunes, top three around the world, and top two on UWC. "POM" is failing in the US, well kind of right now, yet blowing up and making the album sell like crazy Worldwide.
Now you tell me, Britney isnt promoting and can still sell nearly 2m albums ww, do you really think Janet can do the same?
i'm not agreeing with fercho's post by any means, i'm just replying to u rebutting to his idiotic comment, when i know you're much better than that.
like Toy Soldier said, Janet's name doesn't sell anymore. That is why she's been flopping, cause they've been lazy on the hardcore promo. JIVE however knows Britney's name will sell with or without her help.

Yes I agree that Janet's status can't sell the way Britney's can, especially outside the US. I wasn't denying that, but you know what they say, don't throw stones if you live in a glass house. Brit's career is faltering so why is it necessary to insult Janet? Janet has nearly 15+ years on Britney so it hardly seems fair to compare legacies. fercho doesn't always look at the big picture though, but it's reassuring to know that you do at least. And thanks for the compliment Rico, I happen to think you're awesome too!

I think it's the opposite. The US is where she has the potential to flop, but ww, she has better chances. There was never any controversy in Europe or Asia.
Anyway, I'm sticking to my stand--she won't flop. Like I said, it's not going to be as awesome as her big three were (CTRL, RN 1814, J.), but it won't be as bad as 20YO or DJ either, because this is simply better music. And she looks hotter now.

no Fercho, you said she'd flop cause she's not Britney.
Anyways yea she'll have small worldwide success, but, "Damita Jo" sold 1m in US, and 2.5m worldwide, then "20YO" sold 700k in US (estimated up), but 1.2m worldwide.
If she isn't doing the promo then it ain't gonna work. And of course she'll never see like she did in the 80s, duh, but you may be right about it. But then again, "Feedback" is flopping at the current moment and there is literally no hype around the release.
