When I was looking up a Marilyn Monroe video and saw Material Girl on the side bar. And a little more when I discovered atrl. That was when I was a teenager.

Had literally never heard of her before that. Had never even heard the name Madonna before that since i'm not catholic.

I dont get how people just name songs or tv stuff. when you are born after 1983 madonna is just someone you always know as a famous woman. i knew people like madonna before i became a fan. in fact, i remember people who dressed like them at carnivals or things like that always just being so cool. they looked so good. i had this thought that if you like madonna and MJ, you know good music

i know some people say that to prove something, as if she would be irrelevant, but to me it only shows how uneducated people are. Like, I get that in some countries people have different tastes and madonna just isnt their fave, but the holy madonna? and about artist madonna, you never heard the name referenced in pop culture?

As a kid I heard songs like Into the Groove, Material Girl and some of her other classics on the radio but didn't really know who it was. My first memory of seeing her is Beautiful Stranger on MTV. I loved the song and thought she seemed really cool. I remember buying the Don't Tell Me cd single at K-Mart. I never really looked into her albums though.

I've always been really aware of pop culture and saw her as the Queen of Pop and thought she seemed interesting but it wasn't until my mid teens, I really checked more into her.

When I was 16 (2007), I watched Truth or Dare on tv and loved it so I went out and bought The Immaculate Collection and GHV2.

Like everyone, I BOPPED to 4 Minutes and bought it on iTunes but I really didn't check into Hard Candy for whatever reason. Then in 2011, I heard Masterpiece and LOVED it. I also remember hoping she'd win while I was watching the Golden Globes and she did!

I was really hyped for her Superbowl Halftime Show and it was the first one I ever watched and I thought she KILLED it! I then bought Celebration on iTunes. Then I loved MDNA and I also bought every single one of her other studio albums on iTunes. I attended the MDNA Tour later that year in Atlanta and was in awe of her. I also attended the Rebel Heart Tour.

Needless to say, I've always been aware of her and liked her but I've become a bigger and bigger fan as the years have gone by.

I knew her songs since I can remember but I wasn't really interested in music so I didn't know who sang them. My sister told me who is she in 2008 (I stanned 4 Minutes so hard). Soon I started getting into pop music.

No I had never heard of the mother of Jesus being referred to as "Madonna." We just call her Mary or "The Virgin Mary" not "Madonna."

Like I have said time and time again, no I never heard of Madonna before youtube and atrl. Never once. Not eveyone knows your fave.

And you only think it's bizarre that i've never heard of Madonna the entertainer because she's your fave. Plenty of people, especially the black posters, have said time and time again we didn't know about her until youtube or atrl.

I knew who she was since I was 11 or so, my mom bopping to the IC while cleaning, the more I grew up the more present she was (VMAs kiss, children books, etc). I remember the release of American Life and Hung Up, 4 Minutes and GI2M were a huge smash and I started stanning in 2011.
