Top 50 Albums: 20-16
20. Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Having really liked some of this French band's music for the longest time, it wasn't until I heard "1901" and then "Liztomania" that made me
actually really want to listen to their album. I'm glad I did because it is a great mix of synthy pop/rock. After having listened to it, I downloaded
their other albums and I was pleased to see that they essentially got better with each album. Great music is to be had with this album.
Songs To Download
03.Love Like A Sunset Part 1
02.Girlfriend
01.Liztomania
19. La Roux - La Roux
I remember La Roux being compared directly to Little Boots when both of them were releasing their albums earlier this year. Arguments about
which of the two would have the better album after releasing amazing first singles. My money was orignally on Little Boots, however this album
is in my opinion a little better. I don't know if it's her voice or just the structure of the song, but they have some appeal that I can't describe.
The album as a whole just seems very refreshing for whatever reason.
Songs To Download
03.In For The Kill
02.Armour Love
01.Quicksand
18. The Antlers - Hospice
Admitedly, the first time I heard about The Antlers was when people were creaming over the supposed "amazingness" of this album prior to and
a little after the release. I didn't think much about it, but eventually when I saw that everyone that heard it loved it, I had to give in. I
can definitely see where they're coming from. The album is truly a beatiful compilation of songs. The instrumentation, the melodies, etc all added
to a package that is a lot richer than I had expected.
Songs To Download
03.Sylvia
02.Two
01.Kettering
17. Utada - This Is The One
In my eyes, Utada can do no wrong. She is an amazing singer/songwriter both in English and in Japanese. This album is truly no exception to the rule.
Sure, I may like her 2004 English album "Exodus" a little more but that doesn't mean that this album isn't amazing in its own right. A bit of a
departure for Utada, this album soundsl like it was tailor made for the American audience. It's damn shame that a talent like her's and an album
as great as this was overlooked. Hopefully there will be another English album sometime in the future, until then though, I am really anticipating
her next Japanese release, whenever that may be.
Songs To Download
03.Apple And Cinnamon
02.Dirty Desire
01.This One (Crying Like A Child)
16. Passion Pit - Manners
This is another of those albums that won't appeal to everyone and I understand that. With that said though, if you're in anyway into
synthy electropop, this album is the way to go. It's a great collection of unusually cheerful songs that really put a smile on your face.
I thought that they would be a little bigger than they are right now, but I guess people don't know what they're missing.
Songs To Download
03.Let Your Love Grow Tall
02.The Reeling
01.Folds In Your Hands
15. Temper Trap - Conditions
These guys are in my opinion a more rounded off version of Passion Pit. Sure, one of the things I stated I loved about "Manners" was how
overall cheerful it sounded. Temper Trap brings more to the the table when it comes to the music found on the album. It's a little more diverse.
There's some cheerful songs right along side some very haunting ballads alongside some songs that almost scream to be concert "anthems." Great album
from a new band.
Songs To Download
03. Drum Song
02. Fader
01. Love Lost
14. Kelly Clarkson - All I Ever Wanted
I think I may be the only person that truly understood "My December" and because of this, I really loved it. Sure it was darker and not as
instant as previous releases, however it was great. With this album, Kelly returns to doing what she does best. Sing amazing pop/rock songs
with instant hooks ready for radio play. Truthfuly, I am such a huge fan of Clarkson's voice that I feel like she could record herself
singing the phonebook, and it would still be amazing.
Songs To Download
03.Already Gone
02.My Life would Suck Without U
01.If I Cant Have You
13. Black Eyed Peas - The E.N.D.
Say what you want about Black Eyed Peas, that they have lyrics that don't actually make a lot of sense. That they sold out. That they're not
original. etc. The E.N.D. is essentially just like any other BEP album, just with a bit more dance influence than before. And seriously? That's not a
bad thing at all. In my eyes, they really brought it with this album. It's basically a party album and I think once people stop expecting anything
more from them, they'd come to realize that they are really great at what they do. How many of you can tell me with a straight face that you didn't once
sing along to the random lyrics of "Boom Boom Pow" or dance to "I Gotta Feeling." Radio might have killed some of these songs thanks to overplay, but
it doesn't take away from the fact that this album is pretty damn good.
Songs To Download
03.I Gotta Feeling
02.Missing You
01.Rock That Body
12. Mariah Carey - Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel
So, when I first heard Obsessed, I have to say I wasn't all too impressed with Mariah (note: since that time, I've really grown quite fond
of it) and when word started coming out about what the album would sound like, it seemed like Mariah had finally lost it once again. So totally
ready to hate this album, I was shocked to find that it was actually good, no better than good, great. Where as E=MC2 was essentially TEOM Part 2, this
album actually sounds like TEOM's successor. Great songs all around, while some are corny, the album does work very well as a whole.
Songs To Download:
03.Betcha Gon' Know
02.Angels Cry
01.Ribbon
11. Cobra Starship - Hot Mess
Okay, let's get one thing straight, I've always been a fan of Cobra Starship. I realize their music is not innovative. I realize that Gabe's
vocals aren't amazing. So why is this album so high up on my list? Because it is such a great time to be had while listening to it. They've really
mastered the art of making insanely catchy pop songs, probably even more so than their last album "Viva La Cobra." That's in my eyes an accomplishment.
Songs To Download:
03.Good Girls Go Bad
02.Living In The Sky With Diamonds
01.The World Will Never Die

Top 50 Albums: 10 - 06
10. Bat For Lashes - Two Suns
There's something about this album that's mesmerizing, almost magical or something. I'm not sure if it
Natasha's vocals or the stunning music she produces or the wonderful lyrics or a combination of all the above. Thing
is this album is a true work of genius, or at least in my eyes.
Songs To Download:
03.Pearl's Dream
02.Sleep Alone
01.Travelling Woman
09. Imogen Heap - Ellipse
Let's get one thing straight, I love Imogen no matter what she does, be it her solo songs as Imogen Heap or the songs
she did with Guy Sigsworth as part of Frou Frou. She's one of the artists that can do no wrong in my book.
However, being that her past album "Speak For Yourself" was so damn amazing, I was having doubts that she would be able
to top it with this release. Truth be told, I still haven't decided. They're both amazing albums in their own right. Both deserving
of merits, but both are totally different beasts. One thing's for sure, Imogen continues to show that she's amazing.
Songs To Download:
03.Tidal
02.Between Sheets
01.Canvas
08. Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
I was never a big fan of Grizzly Bear prior to the release of this album, in fact I hadn't even heard of them.
I'm glad that changed, I don't know what I would have done if I had missed this masterpiece of an album. All the praises it has
recieved and will continue to recieve are well deserved. It's a beautiful body work that is both familiar and creative. Definitely
something people should check out if they haven't yet done so.
Songs To Download:
03.Fine For Now
02.Two Weeks
01.I Live With You
07. Alicia Keys - Elements Of Freedom
No doubt about it, Alicia really brought her A game with this album. I wasn't the biggest fan of I Am Me and for a while, I thought
that EoF would just be more of the same. A spiritual successor to that album. However, Alicia finally
did what I think everyone was wanting of her to do. Expand her own musical influences. Sure, her trademark
piano is still there. Sure her vocals still sound somewhat the same. But this time around, she experiments with some different kinds
of music that make the album finally feek whole.
Songs To Download;
03.Like The Sea
02.Love Is Blind
01.Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart
06. Shakira - She Wolf
People all over are claiming that Shakira has officially sold out with this album, I however strongly disagree. This is essentially still Shakira.
It still has the random insanity that are the lyrics. It's got a mix of different kinds of world beats. So why are people complaining?
The album works well because it seems like she essentially did whatever the hell she wanted. If this is the outcome of that, I hope she keeps doing it
for a long long time.
Songs To Download:
03.Did It Again
02.Mon Amour
01.Men In This Town
