Yes, of course Born This Way and Lady Gaga deserve all this success.
Down the line, do I want people to see this song as her biggest hit commercially? Not really, because it doesn't top Bad Romance and Poker Face. But getting this #1 is not only well deserved because it's a great song, but overdue for not getting there w/ past hits.
And that rule "because it's Lady Gaga" can be applied to dozens of songs. You think HIAM would have debuted at #1 if it was Cascada singing it? Right. Of course the artist sells the song.

A big name artist (Gaga, Brit etc) always determines a songs success in the first week.
And yet if the song was as bad as some say It would not be doing THIS well.

It absolutely deserved its success. It got quite good reviews (same amount of critical acclaim as other recent #1s ) and it's a solid pop song - I just don't think it's first single material.
Absolutely not. The song is average at best and does not deserve to be breaking all of these records. It isn't surprising in the least, though, since anything this girl puts out is clearly going to sell.
This song and Lady Gaga both deserve the sucess it's getting. She's worked really hard, and it's being payed off. No, this isn't her best song, but this isn't just selling because its "Lady Gaga". Just because YOU don't like the song, doesn't mean it doesn't deserve the sucess.
