Employment and work ethic have nothing to do with someone's weight. There is also a gender imbalance when it comes to how the USA views weight. Women often in normal BMI are labeled fat, while some men with overweight or even obese BMI are more likely given a pass. We also shouldn't make fun of anyone for being fat, for one that doesn't address the situation and ignores the larger fundamental causes, and secondly, it is nonconstructive.
With all that being said we shouldn't let the above reservations stop us from having a conversation about public policy. We should aim for policies that reduce obesity, especially childhood obesity, in a gender neutral and constructive way. Reducing inequality and poverty, then further education (finishing high school and going to college) will go long ways.

Tbh, it's all in the approach. The problem is that people really do readily tell people that they are "fat and ugly".
I think telling people that they are beautiful should be more in the aspect of telling them to love themselves, but also to love themselves as much as to take care of their body to work and try to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Because let's be real, being happy that you're fat is not really healthy, but you can turn that into a positive by loving the skin you're in NOW, and working the weight off gradually.

You guys being incredibly on point Binge eating is an eating disorder, just like anorexia and bulimia. You don't kick the person while they're down, you build them up and encourage them with compassion and kindness to start living a healthier lifestyle and give them useful strategies
I mean, obvious there's a privacy aspect too (you can't just do this to random people on the street), but that should be obvious

Why are you bothered so much about other people's health? There's a line between caring and just being plain rude about it, and you've definitely crossed it.

Would you say the same thing to a dangerously underweight girl who got there by being anorexic? What is there to love about a body that is going to kill you before you reach 60? Telling people to love themselves as they are now only leads to complacency.

Although I do have great sympathy for those who are obese due to depression. That being said many people are depressed because they are obese and then it becomes a destructive cycle.

Why are you comparing a lifestyle to a mental illness?

Sorry but people love to shift blame instead of taking control and responsibility of their lives. If you have a slower metabolism then you simply have to work harder to keep the weight off. Sucks but that's your reality. If you find yourself getting too big, go on a diet and start exercising. If you have some kind of medical issue, see a doctor and find a way to counter it. Most people have control before it even gets to the point of obesity, then it becomes harder. But its especially selfish if you effect others, like your kids, and make them obese too. If i found myself not being able to fit into my jeans or my arms start flapping and gathering fat, I'm going to put myself on a treadmill and put down that burger

None of these weight-related threads ever come from a place of sincerity, as far as being concerned for others and their weight. What are you ATRLers doing for anyone?

I never fat shame people but tbh being fat is ugly. Anyone who disagrees is just too lazy to work out & can't control themselves. Being fat is a choice (unless it's an illness that caused the fatness) so anyone who wanna stay healthy can just do so.

I agree with this. If you're an adult and obese, whatever. But letting your child get that unhealthy (and likely opening them to a ton of bullying at school) is inexcusable.

I don't think we should attack people for being obese, but we certainly shouldn't "accept" it.

Sometimes its genetics. Some people put on weight in their younger years easily . I think chubby children are adorable tbh. But OBESE children (One's who always sit out at gym, have to wear clothes out o their age range is a problem)

Do you think joint pain, stunted growth, problems in genital development, higher risk of cancer and heart attacks, and generally looking like a blob of grease are "cute"?
