What's with everyone thinking Red is some guaranteed hit
It might do well on country, since songs on that format don't need to be that catchy/melodic to be successful, but on pop, the bar is set a little higher and Red doesn't meet it.

If radio is on her side, it CAN smash, it's radio-friendly enough. If she smashed with a song like Love Story she can easily do it with Red. She just need good airplay.

With a song like Love Story? Love Story was very catchy/melodic, and it's in a whole other league. Red would be better compared to The Story Of Us. - Although it's a little better, but still nowhere near Love Story. She's not like a P!nk-ish adio staple on pop radio yet, who can get away with so-so songs.
I feel that 22 would be more suitable for the summer though. Red has more of a Spring feel/vibe to it. Besides, after two upbeat pop songs, I do think it's time for them to slow it down a bit and release something more touching and softer than the previous singles. 22 most definitely would SMASH but it would SMASH more in the summer.

Red >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Love Story.
How is Red NOT melodic?
Wait, whats the delusion that Red "doesnt meet the bar" for pop? Girl bye Red the most popular album track and one of her catchiest songs will slay and you will deal.
Red & 22 have been performing similarly on iTunes, 22 doing better. It'll do well, I guess, but I don't see it doing anything for the album to be honest. The lyrics hmm... catered for top 40.

Do you all even listen to country music/radio stations? They're not going to play red because of the computer altered vocals and the stuttering effect.
