This is one of the stupidest ATRL comments I've ever seen. What kind of sad reach. Who the hell makes music for critics? Is her concert full of critics? Is her album always thanking critics? When she performs at an award show, does she dedicate her songs to critics? Did she ask the critics what to name her fourth album? Or nah?
Just because Beyoncé does not make quick pop hits to go to #1, or isn't a confident single seller does not mean it's for critics.

Well, I didn't say Beyoncé didn't make music for her fans. She can still please her fans and the critics at the same time. You missed the point. My point was her music is clearly much more elaborated and sofisticated than Rihanna's. That's probably the reason why 4 underperformed and why BEYONCÉ the album didn't manage to sell much after the suprise release hype faded. If you take a look at year-end list of best albums you'll see a pattern that shows that the critics's and GP's opinions don't intersect much. Teenage Dream: successful album with 5 #1s on BBH100. Critics opinion: mixed. Yeezus: best album of the decade so far according to Pitchfork. Public's reaction: flopped. So, again, there's no shame in the fact that Rihanna has sold more records than Bey, because Beyoncé isn't trying to make music for the radio anymore.

My guess is Katy and Gaga both the same genre, came out around at the same time and have eras that go head to head. Katy has the looks and Gaga has the talent.

Bey spent half her career as a DC member and she debuted in 1997. Both Bey and Rihanna found fame at 16/17, but Beyoncé wasn't a solo artist then. Half her album sales come from DC albums.

Bey's solo debut also happened before the digital era completely took over so her single sales then aren't going to look as good as Rihanna's post-2009. So that's another thing y'all don't take into consideration.

No need to trivialize Rihanna or Bey's sales. Both sold over a 100 million, that makes them pretty elite.

Yes she does If you would take your stan card you could see how much she cares about critical acclaim and awards like Grammy's and stuff.

I think it started when Rihanna first came out and for some odd reason, everyone hated her just because they felt she was trying to replace Beyonce in everything (including the bedroom). Beyonce had basically destroyed every other females career at the time including Ashanti so Rih was suppose to be just another casualty. Instead Rih found her stride and has been running that race since and instantly, you were either Hive or Navy. Even the media bought into it and would drag Rihanna on a regular but she rose above it all. My ONLY issue with Beyonce is I wished she had stood up to her father more and reached down to help Kelly. She had the power; she could have helped her but everytime Kelly came out with something, here comes Beyonce overshadowing her. But no doubt, Beyonce is great and Rih is too. Sometimes it just comes down to a matter of preference. No one can top Beyonce in the sex kitten arena and shouldn't try and no one can top Rihanna in that raw, edgy sexiness and shouldn't try. Both are in lanes of their own.

Oh and this, some of the Hive want to pretend that Beyonce's sold nearly as many records as Rihanna.

Beyonce's sold about 90 Million and Destiny's Child 75 Million.

Rihanna is well past 200 Million.

The reason is because The Navy goes too far with the stanning for Rihanna. They always try to knock Beyonce down to build up their fave. Because Rih says a few more singles than Bey that try to make it seem like she's above Beyonce when in actuality that isn't the truth. The navy plays their role they always put Rihanna on this pedestal & the hive are usually the ones to bring them back to reality with a swift clocked. It's a stupid feud because Rih is a Bey fan. & regardless of what a few stabs think the GP & critics put Beyonce is a category above her peers.
