I get the anger and the frustration, and I also get how these tactics worked back in the 60s, 70s, 80s, etc., but in the age of social media and 24/7 news, looting and setting fire to buildings is going to generate a lot more negative public sentiment than it use to in the age when newspapers and word-of-mouth was the only means of spreading information.
Back during the Rodney King riots, you had things like this happen, and buildings burned down, but the news was always delivered by the press and in managed doses.
Today, you have Twitter, CNN, MSNBC, Fox, Radio Talk shows, podcasts, Facebook, etc, and the pictures as being shown rapidly and in ugly lights to many many more people, so you're going to get more people negatively biased and outraged at the riots/looters.
I just think there should be a better way.

It brings in news, but fro what I recall out of the few times I've followed those stories, they don't seem as violent or widespread. You would have maybe a few hundred looters/protestors, versus what seems like a larger number in Ferguson and now Baltimore. idk
