That's what I thought. But it seems like everyone here thinks otherwise. Where does it even say anything about her suing over the title?
Not sure. The article is worded a bit odd though -- here's a clearer one:
Quote:
Lady Gaga has been accused of stealing her song "Judas" from a woman named Rebecca Francescatti (she should just step in line behind all the other celebs claiming Gaga has stolen from them).
Rebecca Francescatti recently filed a lawsuit against Gaga and her record company, claiming that they stole the lyrics from her song "Juda," simply changing the title to "Judas." The tune caused a media firestorm with its Bible-inspired lyrics (although the line "Judas, kiss me, if offensed, or wear an ear condom next time" isn't anywhere to be found in the holy book).
Some Biblical groups complained about "Judas," and Lady Gaga was accused of copying Madonna yet again (Madge used religious imagery in her "Like a Prayer" music video). Fortunately (or unfortunately?) for Gaga, that controversy seems to have died down.
But of course controversy never completely dies with Lady Gaga, as it may turn out that she stole from an unknown songwriter rather than the Queen of Pop this time. It's possible that Gaga didn't know that the lyrics of "Juda" belonged to someone else before she recorded "Judas," but if the lyrics really belong to Rebecca Francescatti, this is very unlikely—Lady Gaga and RedOne are listed as the writers of the song, and Gaga has spoken at length about her inspiration for it.
Francescatti reportedly got the song copyrighted in 1999 and recorded it in 2004, so if this does turn out to be true and documented, Gaga could owe her quite a bit of cash.
Gaga has now been accused of stealing Grace Jones' and Roisin Murphy's style; the identity of a girl named Lina Morgana who committed suicide; the music stylings of Madonna; and Francescatti's song. So, is Lady Gaga truly original, or has she simply become so successful from stealing? What do you think?
