Legend is all about perception. Many call Amy winehouse a legend after such a short time. Its not an exact science its a general consensus. So you can go round in circles arguing the toss.

Also, it's embarrassing tbh. I have a good younger friend and we went out to the gay club a few weeks ago, which was "Janet night", and he actually laughed at me when I told him Janet was a legend. To which he replied and said no Beyonce is a legend, Janet is not.

I told him sorry but Beyonce a legend before JANET JACKSON?! Janet Jackson birthed your fave and all of our faves. The disrespect. The f-in audacity of some ignorant young folks.
