Ever been to a party or at a club? 'Tik Tok' is always played and everyone goes crazy. It's bigger than any Katy song in both impact and commercial success, by a large margin. Katy recorded a carbon copy for a reason.
Of course it wasn't as global. 'Tik Tok' sold over 15m (about 40% in the States) and 'California Gurls' under 10m (almost 70% in the States.)
People still deny that D&H has outsold TD WW, the one thing katy had over bruno was big promotion and the media coverage, bruno on the other kept selling with out causing a stir, his album has sold more than 6M copies WW. Not to forget his huge singles sales around the world, the three singles he released made the list of the top 10 best selling digital tracks of 2011 selling a combined 30M songs, his music videos for these singles were also huge.
