Every time someone uses "gay" as an insult, it's a reminder to LGBT people that, on some basic level, they'll never be viewed as equal to the straight population.

I'm just going to be honest here, I feel like you're trying to fit in with straight people so you pretend like you're not offended by them acting and saying homophobic things.
