40. Underoath - Too Bright To See, Too Loud To Hear I've always been a fan of these guys and this song is no exception. A slower paced song that really kicks in towards the end. I had a chance to see these guys at the Warped Tour this year and they didn't disappoint.
39. Death Cab For Cutie - Meet Me On The Equinox These guys got a big break for being able to have the lead single for one of the biggest movies of the year. Doesn't hurt that the song has a haunting melody that everyone can love.
38. Kid Cudi feat. Kanye West and Common - Make Her Say Take a sample from one of the biggest songs ever and throw in 3 of the best rappers today and you have an instant hit.
37. Otep - Smash The Control Machine I am a big fan of Otep's older music and I didn't know they released new music in 2009. I seen this song on Johnald's countdown and immediately downloaded it. It's nothing like their older stuff, but still great.
36. The Devil Wears Prada - Danger: Wildman These guys have became one of my favorite bands and I was glad to get a new album this year. The album stuck to their roots with music that is loud and in your face. I also had the chance to see these guys at the Warped Tour and it was something I will never forget.
One of the most intriguing sets of any countdown that I've seen so far. I will admit that I'm not as well versed with this portion as I will be with others, but god, I love "Smash the Control Machine".
35. Green Day - 21 Guns Green Day returned in 2009 with a new album that everyone was dying to hear. When I first heard "21 Guns", it reminded me a lot of "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." Though "21 Guns" wasn't as successful as the Boulevard, it was still a sweet rock ballad anyone could enjoy.
34. Marilyn Manson - Arma-Goddamn-Mother****in-Geddon A catchy tune by Manson? Who woulda thunk it? Of course, the radio edit butchers the song to death, but the chorus is just so damn catchy once it's in your head it won't go away.
33. Alice In Chains - Check My Brain
[i]Alice In Chains returned in 2009 with a new lead singer who does in fact sound a lot like Layne Staley. Some might find it in bad taste to keep the same name, but I don't mind it at all as long as the music is terrible.[/i
32. Britney Spears - If You Seek Amy A lot of people were shocked last year when "Womanizer" made my year end chart. Well Britney returns once again with another catchy as hell tune. I loved how radio changed the words to "If You See Amy" because of the sexual innuendo
31. Atreyu - Storm To Pass I have always been a fan of Atreyu. I do prefer their older stuff to the newer music, but still support the guys. The new album does have some great tracks and this is one of them. It sure was good to have new music from Atreyu this year.
The Top 30 begins tomorrow with the next set containing all rock bands.
