I stay in GA. It was supposed to hit us, but it passed over. Nothing exciting ever happens here, but I guess I should be grateful. My prayers go out to SC, NC, VA, ML., NJ, NY, DE, and CT. I honestly think this bitch Irene is about to **** some serious **** up. The Eastern Seaboard isn't prepared for hurricanes as much as other coastlines. I was watching a documentary about how detrimental it would be if a hurricane were to ever hit NY and NJ. I hope it's nothing too serious though, maybe it'll weaken dramatically.

NJ is at voluntary I believe and for NYC the mayor is going to decide tomorrow. For Long Island, some parts are mandatory. I live in Zone A (southeastern Queens) which will get hit if it truly does come to NYC.
If they are issuing out at least some mandatory evacuations, they must be expecting something big.
I would never stay for a hurricane, especially a Cat 2 or higher.

As of now it's a cat 4 hurricane, and it'll still be around 3-4 when it hits NJ. When it reaches NY, it'll be around a cat 2

It's a Cat 4 now. By time it hits land, it will be downgraded to a 2.

I know right! I live in NJ too, in the news it says were getting category 2 then other new says were only getting cat. 1
I'm not too worried but I wont take a risk regarding pet. I already made her emergency kit. I'm not going near any windows in case the damaging winds break the glass.
