whew
I'm very busy tonight, so i'm gonna post two sets tomorrow Thanks for visiting!
This has been my absolute jam for months now, sadly it didn't get much attention. Hey Violet is a pop-punk band in the same vein as 5SOS, but with less in-your-face attitude, and a fresher sound. Brand New Moves is full of groove and it is incredibly crisp - definitely their best song yet.
24. Slumber Party - Britney Spears
Slumber Party is one of those songs i never get bored of playing. It is playful, sexy, classy, and surprisingly light. The minimalistic production is stunning, and Britney sounds so alive in this. Even the single version with Tinashe can't make this song any better, because the solo version is already perfect.
23. Kiss It Better - Rihanna
This is probably my favorite Rihanna song in years, and i don't usually like her slow jams. Kiss It Better achieves an almost impossible feat for a ballad; a sensual, yet sonically epic sound. Rihanna's voice soars above the luxurious guitar riff, and the harmonies are straight-up golden.
22. Dreaming - Smallpools
I just discovered Smallpools this year, and they are already one of my favorite indie pop/alternative bands. Dreaming is their most known song, and also their best song. The song is not groundbreaking by any means, but it is urgent, punchy, and high-energy - which makes an excellent late night jam.
21. Ocean Drive - Duke Dumont
"Don't say a word while we dance with the devil" - this song is sex, and it is the most thrilling Pop/EDM song i've heard in a while. Ocean Drive has a cool vibe throughout, which complements the breezy and energizing chorus. If you haven't heard this song yet, definitely go do yourself a favor.

It took me some time to like Last Dance, but my god, what gem of a song this is. Dua holds nothing back with this song; from the moody beginning and the excellent buildup, to the raw vocals and the pop drop of the year!
19. Cruel (feat. Zayn) - Snakehips
I like Cruel better than anything on ZAYN's debut (which is also great). The dystopia vibe in the lyrics and the production shouldn't work, but it does. The pre-chorus is an absolute banger, and the way ZAYN sings "Looping around me like CCTV' so passionately is the unlikely highlight of this song.
18. Better Man - Little Bit Town
It is fairly obvious from the first listen that Better Man was written by Taylor Swift. I mean, who else could have written breakup lyrics of this caliber? It also helps that Little Big Town's harmonies are rich and gorgeous and the chorus of this song is catchy as hell. Better Man is definitely one of country's finest.
17. Thinking Bout You - Ariana Grande
The underrated bop from Dangerous Woman that ends the album on a high. The way Ariana flawless vocals on "But at least I have the memory" leads to the euphoric last chorus is everything. The melancholy lyrics, the celestial production, the thudding chorus, the triumphant post-bridge - this is perfection.
16. What It's Gonna Be - Shura
80's synthpop is slowly making its comeback to mainstream music in the recent years (1989/EMOTION ha impact), and Shura is the one to watch out for. What It's Gonna Be is high-energy and manages to excellently capture the fleeting feeling of being young, confused and in love.
20. Last Dance - Dua Lipa
It took me some time to like Last Dance, but my god, what gem of a song this is. Dua holds nothing back with this song; from the moody beginning and the excellent buildup, to the raw vocals and the pop drop of the year!

I didn't really care about Alunageorge before, but this song put her on my radar. Aluna delivers I'm In Control full of attitude and as much as i'm annoyed by Sean Paul's style rapping, Popcaan actually goes along with this track surprisingly well. The energetic production in this song is also fantastic - I can't sit still listening to this song.
14. Ain't My Fault - Zara Larsson
How smooth is Zara on this single?!!? "You just made me trip, fall, and land on your lap", she did THAT! I can't get enough of this song - it doesn't take itself too seriously, that's what makes it super fun. From the alarm blaring at the start of the song until the last note, Ain't My Fault is amazing through and through.
I know how cheesy and basic Starving is, but that is also a part of its charm. For some reason, i always feel happy whenever i listen or sing along to Starving. Hailee's sweet voice and Zedd's mild production actually complement each other really well. I'm happy that she's finally able to break the music industry, let's hope that her debut album will be as amazing as her EP.
12. Blow Your Mind (Mwah) - Dua Lipa
When i said earlier that Dua Lipa is my new obsession of 2016, i meant it. This is Dua's third entry (fourth, if you count the honorable mentions) on my list, and it is her latest international single. Dua doesn't try to belt her powerful vocals on this track, instead she lets the crisp nature of the track carries her voice. No matter how many times i listen, Blow Your Mind always sounds fresh to me. The post-chorus is gigantic, and that "mwah" at the end of the chorus is one hell of a throwaway.
11. The Sound - The 1975
The Sound is The 1975's poppiest track and it is also one of their best. The chorus is gold. It is appropriately vibrant and satisfyingly neon. It is so carefree and so euphoric that I feel like it could stretch on for eternity after the song has moved on. The Sound also has an electrifying guitar solo bridge that comes in like a rocket, sears through the air and leaves me breathless. I don’t care that the song is filled with thesaurus-worthy words, or even that the chorus repeats the same line over and over. All I know is that ‘The Sound’ achieves the impossible task of being as charming and as irresistible as Matt Healy and I love it.
15. I'm In Control (feat. Popcaan) - AlunaGeorge

Cruel + Ain't My Fault Both are solid bops.
Thinking 'Bout You My favorite from DW and my new fave Ariana song of all time. A masterpiece.
Speaking of masterpieces... Starving I thought Hailee couldn't tug at my wig any harder, and then she swiped it clean off with this one.
I listened to Hey Violet's Ep last year. I can't tell if I love or hate them but they have a distinct sound.
Wha'ts It Gonna Be and I'm In Control are good but I think people have first single/lead single bias.
