She would've toned it down in the studio im sure

I know you're true stans, but be a bit objective.

Without a doubt in my mind.
I go hard for Nicki's old raps, but not one single verse, line, or phrase on this album impressed me in the least. The epitome of basic. Well, except for that 5 year old verse on Whip It that everyone heard - word for word - on a damn Cassie leak.

No, WFL is tailored for Rihanna.

And I'll just say what everyone's thinking
Killed every single verse on "Roman" Reloaded.

Not using Cockiness as your example. First of all, I just listened to that verse. None of those Nicki verses could be delivered with Rihanna's voice in Cockiness. Not to put the girl down or anything, but Rihanna just talked in a monotone voice for that verse. And you wanna say that killed every verse on Roman Reloaded? Where is the lyricism in that Cockiness verse, huh? The lyricism that you say Nicki apparently abandoned in favor of simple rhymes with this new album? And the FUNNY thing is that you say you were here for Nicki back in the mixtape days when she was "good" and she had "lyricism", yet you didn't even notice that one of the verses I quoted had parts of it that was DIRECTLY from one of Nicki's old verses. So that Cockiness verse is better than Nicki's mixtape verse? Rihanna could spit Nicki's mixtape verse better than Nicki herself?
Y'all are really trying it.

Nothing about Katy's vocals would/could have delivered the amount of angst and splendor that Rihanna put into the vocals. Only Ms. Fenty could have made WFL into a smash and she succeeded. As to Onika's ballads, I think she did well, considering I liked them enough to wish Rihanna sang them. I feel like she could have added more depth.
|
Oh please. Katy can deliver "angst". Just look at Circle The Drain. And death at y'all acting like the reason WFL smashed is because the general public was feeling the "angst" and "splendor" of Robyn's vocals so much that they made it a No1 smash. Doing the most and you KNOW it. Katy sounded just fine in that video, and let's not act like Katy doing a studio version of We Found Love couldn't smash either. But I'm not a Katy stan, and you all are Rihanna stans, so I expect nothing less and I'm not gonna argue about WFL anymore.

I'm not saying Rih didn't do an amazing job with WFL or taking any credit with her version.
But Jessie's voice can blend very well with Calvin's production, tbh, and the high notes Rih can't handle, Jessie would probably done them and take WFL to another level.
Production would be modified in order to fit Jessie's voice, and still be a flawless anthem as Rihanna's version was.

You're blinded by your love for Rihanna...
I love Rihanna, she's one of my faves, but to be really honest with you, had Nicki sang that 'Cockiness' verse, you would've labeled it as basic.. it has nothing special about it, except by the fact it is sung by Rihanna.
And you really should hear closely Come On A Cone or I Am Your Leader, and give yourself further background information to then comment on this thread.

Honey, I already addressed the old rap. Reading is fundamental, and you are lacking.
Roman Reloaded has absolutely nothing inspiring, intelligent, or even remotely good on it. The verses are lacking in an incredible way. And that is what it is.

Yes, you addressed it in a second post while I typing my post and replying to two others.
You're right. Reading is fundamental. Reading is also something which you never seem to do when it comes to a Nicki thread. But oh well. Obviously you have nothing to add (surprise!); thus, we're done here.

Yes, they both make that generic "now-sounding" disposable pop music.

Sorry bout it.

Sis tell me you are NAWT comparing selena and taylor's rapping abilities to Nicki's
Anyone can rap a verse, its HOW you spit the verse that sets you apart.

Of course they're nowhere near as good as nicki, but if they can do it, so can rih and rihanna would do it better than them of course.
