Instead of speculating and making things up that suit your view, maybe you should read what the people involved have actually said.
Leona and Calvin both confirmed she recorded it, no one said just a demo, it was meant for Glassheart (Leona's 3rd album) but Leona wouldn't commit to it being the lead single, Calvin then offered it to Rihanna who he was touring with at the time.
Had Leona's album not been delayed by a year, she very likely would have had both We Found Love and Burn on that album.
What a trinity this would have been:
We Found Love
Burn
Glassheart
