Triumphant = Buzz single
Stay pressed though
Mariah's impact and influence>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Britney's
Mariah influenced people whom are ACTUALLY Britney's peers. As far as I'm concerned Mariah Carey should not be in the same sentence with Britney. She is a legend, the other one is washed up in my humble ass opinion, and never even reached icon status
List of people Mariah has influenced
Beyonce, Christina Aguleira, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, P!nk, Kelly Rowland, hell even your fave looks up to her
All these people are around Brit's age and are her peers, yet somehow some of these I listed are above her and more talented (*cough* *cough* Ms. Carter..)
Mariah has impacted generations of performers, and probably will continue to be the the gold standard for a vocalist, male or female. Britney on the other hand has nothing to show for it, except for maybe Ke$ha following her trashy party girl image . She has no real legacy, she has no real influence on younger artist or even her peers. I see/ feel NO impact,no scar left today in the industry. This hoe is remembered for her personal foolishness more than she is her music.. that's REALLY SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT THE ARTIST (<< and that isn't good)
Who the hell wants to be a Britney? Her career has bombed, she's aged horribly, her personal life has been under so much scrutiny, she cannot perform like she use to, she is nothing but Auto-tune and mediocre choreography now. The X factor was a flop, and i can almost guarantee AI will have higher ratings.
Mariah stays winning, Britney is losing a long life hard ass battle.
I'm tired of the delusion on ATRL.

These bitches will sit when I command.
Dumbass teenage queens running around worshiping Britney like some second coming of Christ. Hell that's half of ATRL's problem with their fave. They can't take the got damn stan glasses off.
If they actually had good taste in music, outside of bubble gum pop..

pressed soul tbh So every flopped single is a buzz single now For her long ass career she still has NO iconic performances People still talk about Britney's VMAs performances, ****, even Gimme More VMA performance is more iconic than any Mooriah's performance And AI will have better ratings because it is the first talent show on tv that produced the real stars. Mariah can keep fighting though. She needs an attention. I know it is hard to admit that your fave is in the process of fading
PS Britney has different types of music: mid-tempos, up-tempos, ballads, a lil bit of rock and rap. Yeah she is not Mariah who has 954844 stupid slow love songs

I don't understand what this thread is exactly about, if we are talking preference, I love Britney and her music more since I grew up listening to her and stuff, but Mariah is also one of my faves.

Mariah has sold more albums
Mariah has more #1s
Mariah has the biggest song of the decade of both the 90s AND the 00s
Mariah has more critical acclaim
Mariah has a bigger fortune
And let's not even talk about vocal talent.
So what else is left to discuss?

I don't know what you want to talk about regarding these two but go ahead do that in this thread.
|
So basically not everything has to be about impact. I just voted for Britney because I much prefer her and her music to Mariah's. I didn't think about sales or impact or wtvr.

Oh bitch,null and void..
Like what type of weak ass attempt???
You tried though.Half of your reply makes no sense anyways.. Lol
Stop bringing up old crusty receipts for Britney.
You have the nerve to talk about Mariah Carey fading, but your fave already disappeared. I mean Im unphased because I know Mimi is actually relevant

Y'all do this every damn month....
The CORRECT answer will ALWAYS be Mariah.
The only reason you guys think Britney was so massive was because she was the leader of the teen pop train of the late 90s and early 00s. And due to our ages, that's probably the kind of music most of us listened to/were exposed to at that time, so obviously we saw a lot more Britney than Mariah.
However, Mariah was the biggest artist of the 90s PERIOD, regardless of any specific area. And she's one of the most influential vocalists of all time. Britney doesn't come close. She was the teen queen of her time. That's where it ends.
Goodness...

Mariah and there is no buts, ifs, ors, etc about it.
She is more talented and talent isn't subjective.
She has sold more, numbers aren't subjective.
She is more influential, even Britney Jean Spears herself said she was inspired by Mariah and her "melodies".
She has broken more records.
And so forth. This isn't a question of who you'd prefer or who you like best, this is about who's "bigger" and Mariah is bigger in the U.S. and the whole world.
Another way of looking at it, Britney's prime lasted from 1999-2003/4 while Mariah's prime was the whole 90s. A decade >>>> 4/5 years. I see the gurls trying it though acting like anyone goes on stage and says they've been inspired by Britney. It doesn't really matter, this is the internet and what matters is the real world.

Britney's prime was so damn short compared to other female legends. 1999-2003.
Only thing britney did better than mariah was have a better breakdown. Yes she has had success since her breakdown, but nowhere near the same as before, and she has nowhere near been the same performer or above all anything.
Her personality is dead
Her performing is zombie like
Her life seems dismal
She is a sad, sad case.

so you think Mariah is not respected by the new generation and following generation
I don't know where to start, many singers today look up mariah as her inspirations (Gaga, Rih, Xtina, even your fave)
many singers today cover Mariah's song (Demi, Kelly C, Rita Ora)
Mariah now is STILL respected sis

Mariah has done pop, R&B, Adult Contemporary, Country, Dance, Jazz, Disco, House, Rock, even a little bit of rap, in addition to all the things you listed for Britney, so sit your uneducated ass down sis.

In all honesty, it doesn't really matter, Mariah is bigger than Britney and the facts are there like I said with my first post.
