I do agree with his assessment that she should do more music like the Ray of Light album, but to attempt to discredit her dance music history is ... stupid. She is the Queen of the dance charts by several miles. That said, right now, she'd be more successful doing pure pop not what Rihanna and Gaga are doing.

Her career being over? She's most likely going to have the top grossing and attended tour of the year. Worldwide, her album will probably be top ten at the end of the year. Even 30 years later you can't call time of death on Madonna's career - she can have a "flop" album like MDNA one year and come out with a 15+ million selling album next year. She can have a year were she's naked everywhere and has made every adult with kids ban her - then with a Golden Globe and release a successful album of ballads.

You are right, what really happened, if anyone really wants to know why he is so mad, when Madonna married Guy Ritchie she lived in London for a while, and Elton and his husband threw some party and Madonna snubbed the invite. Elton's obsessed with 'celebrity' , always throwing parties, the A-list scene means the world to him. Even George Michael basically implied Elton's obsessed with other celebs. Since that happened he started slamming Madonna in the press, starting from 2003. It didn't help that Madonna and Elton compete with their parties at the Oscars each year (Madonna always having the A-listers on hers).
