Maybe if Lupita was North African, Ethiopian, Somalian, or Etriean you could make a case.
But she's not. She's Kenyan. There's not admixture present. That's what Nilotic black people look like. All black people in Africa are not a uniform people. It's why it's the most diverse genetic continent in the world.

Yes, you are right, I did a quick little research on Lupita's family history. Both her parents are of Nilotic descent... Nilotics were largely unaffected by British colonialism, and only show trace amounts of Asian DNA in their genetics. I learned something new today.
That still doesn't change the reason as to why Lupita's look appeals to the western world though...

What was done to the African people was awful, but let's not act like certain genetic traits such as lighter skin, green/blue eyes, and certain facial features happen spontaneously...

Light hair, skin and eyes were caused by genetic mutations which can and do happen spontaneously. Light eyes/skin/hair and aquiline features aren't exclusively Caucasoid traits, either.

random but seeing the erroneous here use of Caucasian bugs me too much
fun fact: white people are not Caucasian. Caucasians refer to people of the Caucus region, which is in the Middle East. People from this region are Middle Eastern, not white. Examples of actual Caucasoid are the elder brother of the Boston bombings (who is from the Northern Caucus region) and Cher and Kim Kardahsian (half Armenian--which Armenia is in the Caucus region)
Thankfully only people in the US call whites Caucasian. The rest of the world seems to have gotten the picture decades ago that Blumbanche's racial categorising was incorrect.

Caucasian and Caucasoid aren't the same thing -- Caucasian is incorrect when speaking about someone not of the Caucus region; however, the suffix "-oid" simply indicates having genetic traits similar to the people of the Caucus region.

Kind of a moot point considering race is a social construct from the ground up.
And in the US, "Caucasian" does refer to white people. And again, to argue that it's "incorrect" is pointless because race is a social construct. What people get categorized as "white" or "black" varies significantly from region to region across the world, even across the US.

And her features are still not Anglo at all.

I love how people try to deny this when it's true. What dark skin sister is on the level of Beyonce and Rihanna? What dark skin woman is highly revered like Halle Berry? Why do so many black men date non-black or lighter skinned black women typically of mixed race? Why is interracial at an all time high among black men? Huh?

In all fairness, it's an easy thing to be mistaken about. His only error was assuming Lupita's phenotype to be exclusively that of white people.
And though it's not, it doesn't change the TRUTH in what his main point; which is that only blacks with those features similar to white people are ever really championed as beautiful.

Yes, it's about Rihanna, but what are you trying to prove with those pics and who are you trying to prove it to? She's still not as dark as someone smack in the middle of Africa, which is obviously what this dude meant when he said "too dark."

Nope that wasn't his only mistake!! As ASCENSION proved even certain phenotypes that are thought of as been "eurocentric" are not exclusive to caucasoids. Lighter eyes, different hair textures and even lighter skin can be found in black people with no admixture. Yes most in the caribbean and many african americans with these features have mixed heritage but it still doesn't mean all black people with these features have white/caucasians to "thank" for it!

I'm saying that the world is mostly Eurocentric, and female black singers/actresses with European features will always be more popular. Of course Lupita is considered black, but her features are Eurocentric in nature.
Rih is less identifiable...that's why people label her as "exotic". She can play with her ethnicity, her past family Anglo genetics are just more pronounced.
|
Lmao this is insane.
Lupita does not have European features. Wtf.
Neither does Rihanna (who looks like a lightskinned Ghanaian). She's considered 'exotic' bc she's extremely photogenic despite having traditionally 'unattractive' features like a huge, flared nose and a massive forehead.

I hate that society continues to perpetuate this myth that dark skin and/or African features can't be beautiful
and **** that accountant. I don't even need to see their face to know that they're as ugly as sin for making that statement.

Why does it bother you so much? its relevant to the topic. Beauty is not defined by color as i was saying.
There is quite the contrast in those original pics to these so please stop trying it

I can't with this european features nonsense, when a dark skinned person is HOT they are accused of having caucasian features, bitch please. Photoshop any dark skinned person into white skin and you will see that it's simply not true. They will look like a black person who's been bleaching. The fact is people that are considered beautiful have common features and this transcends race.

MTE.
There is nothing Eurocentric about Lupita's features UGH, she still has an African nose, it's just small. Small features=/= European features.
And the only thing noticeably European about Rihanna is her eyes.

Yes a large amount of light skinned black people have admixture but there are light skinned black people in Africa who are 100% black with no admixture, it's annoying how Africans are stereotyped as only being dark as coal and having huge noses and lips.
Igbos:
San People:
All completely black genetically and more black than most if not all dark skinned black people from the "new world".
