not people "kii" over The Fame about being the biggest
it is second best selling album after Adele 21 since 2004/2003 (so its easily second biggest of this century since sales were better in 2000-2004)
Poker Face, Just Dance and BadRomance all sold over 10M WW and telephone will join too, even single artists can't do this during their peak
Gaga also have tour gross of 200M to her name
And Grammyswhich she received during her peak
ACCLAIM, TOUR, SINGLES, ALBUM gaga got it all
All other lack one thing or another during their peak but Gaga has it all during all peak

Madonna have great longevity but her peak was no't so big, she don't have a 30M album seller which some of her rivals have
Britney wasn't acclaim and didn't have tour gross to her name
So it between Mariah or Gaga

And if Gaga's peak was so much bigger globally, why did she move less album equivalents? And please don't come with an excuse about the market. Not only do we account for that with album equivalents, but Gaga's peak is made up of two separate albums and seven singles.
Only Madonna and Mariah had greater longevity than Britney out of this list.
|
Ok well obviously her peak is bigger than Beyonce and Katy's
It's not an excuse the singles market from 2009-2011 was nowhere near as big as the albums market was in the late 90s, so TEAs have no place in the discussion. Comparing Music Box, The Immaculate Collection and The Fame's certifications and placement on year end lists to BOMT's is all the proof needed

True Blue: 25 million albums sold (it's one of the biggest albums ever in Europe)
Open Your Heart #1
Live to Tell #1
Papa Don't Preach #1
True Blue #2
La Isla Bonita #4
55M on tour from 38 dates.
Papa Don't Preach got a Best Female Pop Grammy nomination, as well and the album received glowing reviews.
---------
Baby One More Time: 20 million albums sold mostly from the US / Canada and Europe
Baby One More Time #1
Crazy #10
Sometimes #21
From the Bottom of My Broken Heart #14
BOMT Tour did less than 10M on tour and received mixed reviews.

Telephone #3
Alejandro #5
(singles sales add up to more than 50M WW)
227M on tour and received AOTY, ROTY Grammy noms and won several others. Bad Romance took home 7 VMAs in a single night (an MTV record).

Her peak is easily the biggest peak of the digital era (she runs circles around Katy and Beyonce), but Madonna, Mariah, and Britney all had bigger peaks.

Only Whitney,Alanis,Celine and Shania have 30M selling albums.
Madonna's best selling album is at 28M and Mariah's best selling is at 27M.(her receipts thread says 26M though)
It's between Madonna and Mariah.

Her albums did fairly well (its chart run aren't really impressive but still) but everything else falls short when it comes to Britney's peak. Her singles sales, chart positions, chart runs and global stats are not really impressive in comparison to Mariah, Madonna and Gaga.
She was a huge media mogul, but that does not matter.

Katy and Beyonce biggest albums sale is no where nears Gaga. While 3 females have achived 30M mark from album sale why isn't Madonna one of them?
Britney never had acclaim and tour gross to her but Gaga
Mariah 's peak is biggest followed by Gaga

Crying @ these fake ass numbers that you're STILL trying to peddle
...Baby One More Time - 25M (27M IFPI)
True Blue - 23M
The Fame + Monster - 16.4M
And the fact that you want to use Kworb's chart, an iTunes-only chart, to compare albums from the physical age to Gaga's album

That's why we have SEAs. Music consumption is the accurate form of weighing albums according to the IFPI, Billboard, Nielsen Soundscan, the Official Charts Company, etc. Music conversion is just a baseless multiplier given to make current artists seem like they're the most popular that any artists have ever been.
Music Box and TIC outdid ...BOMT. I consider TB to be Madonna's peak just because it was an instant success whereas TIC stalled lower than TB (but has moved considerably more catalog units).
The Fame + Monster has never been bigger than ...BOMT and unless Gaga has some magical career resurgence that really pushes the album, it probably will never be.

I gave Madonna an asterisk because her peak is a compilation album so it didn't really happen at once like the average studio album did.
|
Madonna's peak (1990 imo) goes beyond album sales, though. She literally redefined the meaning of a modern pop star with Blond Ambition, "Like A Prayer" (MV) and the "Vogue" dance craze.
Why are some posters trying it with anyone other than Mariah is beyond me ...

The Fame stayed on charts longer than BOMT in almost all countries if that is fair comparison to you

Yes, I said she was bigger than Beyonce and Katy.
Madonna has 3 albums above 20m That's much better than 1 album above 30m
Concerts grossed MUCH less back in the late 90s/2000s compared to now. Ticket prices were much lower.

I'm talking about this not his website.
The Fame is way bigger than BOMT. Singles, acclaim, tour > a few extra million copies of an album that hasn't charted in a decade or longer.
