It's one thing to write about a personal experience and express your thoughts through song. That I can understand. That I can appreciate. That I can relate to. But Taylor didn't leave it at that. Taylor, during the hype of her #1 single Shake It Off and album 1989 announcement, revealed details about a specific album track in which she had a complication with another female singer. She didn't describe the other tracks on her album in depth such as this. It was definitely a publicity move and goes beyond writing for self expression and traverses into the field of writing for the sake of causing controversy and buzz. That's what a lot of people are looking over.

So it is somewhat hypocritical of Taylor to indicate that she doesn't like how the media pit women against one another, when she then mentions 'Bad Blood' rather than letting people realise what it's about when the album dropped. Her motives are questionable.

I think Taylor overanalyses things and reads into stuff way too much. Katy probably didn't have the time to become one of her BFFs and text her non-stop, so then when her dancers went back to her, she probably thought "Katy hates me" and when Katy and John started a relationship, she probably thought "Katy hates me" and when Kanye West featured on the E.T. remix she probably thought "Katy hates me."

I think it would have been wiser and classier to just settle it behind the scenes rather than throw someone under the bus in a song. I know Taylor communicates her feelings through song, but if she wanted to do it, she should have kept it anonymous. I kind of think letting the public/media know it's about Katy makes it a bit of a diss track, and that's just not classy.

I really hope the two of them can settle it over a mature phone conversation to explain their respective perspectives to each other

Every pop star has those moments. I can see/understand both sides of the argument. She doesn't see herself as pinning herself against Katy Perry because she's not the one doing it (and it hasn't really started yet because the song hasn't come out) - but she should have the wisdom and foresight to realise that the media/GP will do it as soon as the song comes out.
