Top 5
05.Common-Be
after 2002's disaster "Electric Circus", Common comes back big time with "Be". with Kanye producing most of the album(with Dilla producing a couple songs), it gives "Be" a great soulful sound. the album also introduced many mainstream people to Common, and this album is a great introductory point for new fans. with Common being on top of his game(for example from They Say "The thin line between love and hatred/I'm the black pill in the Matrix, the saturated life"), Kanye with Dilla doing amazing production, and some other help(John Legend, John Mayer etc), it all works together to make a future hip hop classic.
Best Songs:
1.The Corner feat. Kanye West, and the Last Poets
2.They Say feat. Kanye West, and John Legend
3.The Food feat. Kanye West
funny how Kanye is featured on all of them.
there's the #5 album. the top 4 now remain.
top 4 and various side lists will be posted all before new years day.

Side List A-Hoy Part 1
Best Album From 2004 I Just heard This Year
The Arcade Fire-Funeral
some people have listed this on their lst this year, but I didn't feel like doing that cause of it's year. otherwise this would be in the top 5 for sure. you've heard all the critics talk about this album, and saying it's one of the best albums of many years, and they are right.
Best Song:Wake Up
Best Live Album
John Mayer Trio-Try! John Mayer Trio Live In Concert
yes that John Mayer. this album proves he is insanely talented. if anyone doubts he isn't then listen to it, and if you don't agree then I don't know what to say.
Best Song:Who Did You Think I Was
Best Soundtrack
Wedding Crashers
great soundtrack featuring many indie bands.it includes a great new song from the Flaming Lips.
Best Song:Flaming Lips-Mr.Ambulance Driver
Remix Album Of The Year
Beck-Guerolito
Beck said this remix album was done before even before Guero itself came out. this is him compiling the best remixes of the songs on the album, and including bonus song "Clap(or Crap as the Japanese version says) Hands".some of these remixes completely change the mood like the Octet remix of Girl which turns into a gloomey piano driven song. if you liked Guero there is no reason for you NOT to check this out.
Best Songs(just because this one is too good just to pick one):
1.Girl [Octet Remix]
2.Broken Drum [Boards of Canada Remix]
3.Shake Shake Tambourine (Black Tambourine) [Adrock Remix]
Best Comedy Album
Dane Cook-Retaliation
Best Comedian of 2005.bought this album the day it came out as a completely blind purchase, and what a great blind purchase it was. one of the funniest CD's you'll ever hear. 2 CD's of pure comedy, with a great DVD all for less than $20 is an amazing deal. you should all get it.
Best Song:anything. it's all hilarious
Disapointment of the Year
311-Don't Tread On Me
311 usually deliver very great albums, however, this one was a complete misfire. There is too much of SA singing (ughhhhh), and very bland songs overall make this album very insipid and not worth your time. I hope 311 come back hard with the next album, because they really need it.
Best Thing To Do With This Album: putting this album in the garbage
Video Of The Year Three Way Tie
Beck-E-Pro Director: Shynola
Beck-Girl Directors:The Motion Theory
Beck-Hell Yes Director: Garth Jennings
now back to the good stuff. Beck usually does great videos, so the fact that he did 3 amazing videos back to back was no surprise.all of them are very different. E-Pro shows Beck as somewhat of a puppet in a world with lines and ****, Girl is Mad Magazine brought to life, and Hell Yes is the only QRIO robots in the world doing a dance routine to the song. it should be known by now that whenever Beck releases an new album that you should expect some amazing videos.
Rapper Who Will Come Back In A Big Way in 2006
Joe Budden
Joe Budden is the most underrated rapper around today. after some people writing him off as a one hit wonder with "Pump It Up", he has been working very hard on his followup album "The Growth". he is keeping his name known by releasing some of the songs off the album to the internet to rave reviews from true hip hop fans. there was a mixtape released recently called Mood Muzik 2 ( everyone get it off me in my getfile) serving as a preview for the album. any hip hop fan needs to check it out, it's amazing. so don't be surprised if Budden returns huge in 06.
Best Song released to the Internet: Dumb Out(7 minutes of pure fire)
Track You Should All Hear That You've Probably Haven't
The Coup feat. Black Thought, and Talib Kweli-My Favorite Mutiny
nothing much else to say then to check this song out. it's amazing.
side list a-hoy 2 with albums that missed the top 40, and best rock, and hip hop singles will come up tomorrow. same with #4-#2, with #1 posted on new years day.

Arcade Fire ^___^ Yes, I put their album in my Best Of 2005 list, but that's BECAUSE I heard it in 2005, therefore, it makes it on.
Fine, fine list so far and I am pulling for an awesome top 4.
Wait, duh, what am I thinking? OF COURSE IT WILL BE.

#4
04.Kanye West-Late Registration
Kanye's last album may have been higher last year(#3), but that doesn't mean it was better. there is just more competition this year.some people don't think it, but Late Registration is a better album than College Dropout. the arangments by Jon Brion, the overall production by both Kanye and Jon, the great guest appearances, and Kanye's rapping himself make this an amazing album.people are like OH MY HE'S SO COCKY HE SUX THEN LOLZZZZ, but thats because he has the talent to back it. and if you don't like him, then I don't know what to say to you.this album will definitely be remembered for years to come not only as a hip hop classic, but a classic album in music in general.
Best Songs:
1.Gone feat. Cam'Ron, and Consequence
2.Touch The Sky feat. Lupe Fiasco
3.Drive Slow feat. Paul Wall, and GLC
#3, and maybe #2 will be posted tonight, and hopefully the second part of the side lists.

Side List A-Hoy 2
Albums I Left Out/Forgot
The New ****ographers-Twin Cinema
I for some reason completey forgot this album. otherwise the Tony Hawk soundtrack would be off in place of this. insanely catchy hooks and songs that if you hear once will be in your head all day.
Best Song:Sing Me Spanish Techno
Brendan Benson-The Alternative To Love
brendan in 2006 is gonna team up with Jack White, and the Green Hornes to form the supergroup, the Raconteurs. this album like "Twin Cinema" is very very catchy, and has great songs.
Best Song:Spit It Out
Neil Young-Prairie Wind
an amazing album by Canada's finest treasure.
Best Song:It's A Dream
Roger Alan Wade-All Likkered Up
Johnny Knoxville's cousin's, who he promoted a lot during his TV appearances and on Jackass, album is hilarious. the sad thing is this album is more country than 99% of the stuff on Country radio today, when most of the songs are just jokes. with songs like "Butt Ugly ****", "Poontang", "She's Gone Back To Whoring", and the classic "If You're Gonna Be Dumb, You Gotta Be Tough", you'll be laughing hard the entire time.
Best Song:Butt Ugly ****
The Unseen-State Of Discontent
best punk album of 2005. these guys are the future of punk rock, and you all need to check them out. also on the album is one of the best versions of "Paint It Black" you'll ever hear.
Best Song:Scream Out
Songs of the Year
Best Rock Song
The Arcade Fire-Rebellion(Lies)
I know some people hate this song or think "Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)" is better, but personally, this is the best rock song of the year. The song gets better with every listen, even if you've heard it many times. I think I realized how amazing the song is in the summer when me and my friends were driving down the road, very sunny day, windows down, blaring this song with huge bass. It was just so perfect, and it made me see how truly great the song is. Then, when they performed it at KROQ Inland Invaision, it got even better with their great performance of it. All these reasons make it that "Rebellion (Lies)" is my favourite rock song, and song in general, of 2005.
#2 Rock Song:Oasis-The Importance Of Being Idle-the best song they have made in years
Best Hip-Hop Song
Three 6 Mafia feat. Young Buck, and 8 Ball and MJG-Stay Fly
I know I come off as a guy who loves quasi mainstream, and underground rap, but while I do, I love a bunch of stuff that would make the big hip hop fans cringe.for example this song, "Stay Fly" by Three 6 Mafia. why is it that? because the song has an amazing beat, great tag team lyrics by Three 6 Mafia, and guests Young Buck of G-Unit, and 8 Ball and MJG, and just a perfect party song. while it isn't poetic, or innovative (the song is all about the rappers one upping each other about getting high), it is in my opinion the perfect hip hop single of the year.
#2 Hip-Hop Song:Mike Jones feat. Slim Thug, and Paul Wall-Still Tippin- whether you like it or not, it was the song to bring the Houston Hip-Hop scene to the mainstream.
Worst Song Of The Year
Papa Roach-Scars
I never was a big fan of Papa Roach, but when this crime-to-humanity of a song came out, I realized this is the reason why random toilets across North America every day refuse to flush: there is too much **** from that song that they can't take anymore. The intro starts off with absolutely dreadful singing right away, giving you no warning to change the channel. It makes your ears bleed inside even for those few miliseconds. The song is very cliche, and it was their way to get a hit song on pop radio (which it very sadly became). This is definitely one of the worst songs ever made, and Papa Roach should've never been given a recording contract to make such absolute trash.
Cool Person of The Year(has had the title since 1974)
The Fonz
he will never not be cool, so he'll have this title forever.
top 3 will be posted tomorrow. sorry for the delay!

04.Bad Religion-The Empire Strikes First
03.Kanye West-College Dropout

Top 3
03.Weezer-Make Believe
For this latest album from Weezer, Make Believe, producer Rick Rubin gave Rivers plenty of challenges, such as to write a song that has the same beat as Queen's "We Will Rock You" (their biggest hit to date, "Beverly Hills"), and to write a song on the piano ("Haunt You Every Day").
When this album is usually talked about, people say "This Is Such A Pity" or "Perfect Situation" are the best songs on the album. However, while they are good, the title of best song goes to "The Other Way". "The Other Way" may not grab you at first, but once it does, you'll realize that it is the best released Weezer song in 10 years. The great lyrics (about Rivers trying to console Elliot Smith's widow, Jennifer Chiba, about Smith's death), hand claps, great solo, and overall the song itself shows the classic Weezer sound.
It may be shocking that I'm not putting this at #1, since it's the album I pimped the most the entire year, and since Weezer is my all time favourite band. The reason is because this album may not be their best per se. Personally, when it comes to the music, I can't wait until the next album. Recent reports say there should be a new album by the end of 2006, beginning of 2007. It should really be Rivers' next great album, due to him possibly getting married soon, entering his last term at Harvard, and his recent trip to India (when the Beatles went to India, they made "Abbey Road"). Hopefully, such a wide range of inspiration will return Weezer to making music that is on par with or exceeds the quality of their previous albums.
However, there is more to this album than anyone can realize from the surface. Looking beyond the musical content itself, Make Believe is a stepping stone to settle the past differences between the band members, and it seems they are actually having fun again. For one of the greatest bands of the last 12 years, that's what is important.
Best Songs:
1.The Other Way
2.Perfect Situation
3.Peace
top 2 posted sometime today. maybe
