Don't you guys understand that, that is precisly the problem here. A 40 something year old man talking to pre teens and teenagers about chart position and album releases is part of the reason billboard lost it's integrity.
I couldn't be happier about this. Hopefully in brining integrity back, Miss Minn takes away youtube view counting towards the charts.
There's no way they'll remove it, but I do think she'll reduce it's effect

i think it's just airplay in general? all airplay is included in the points a song gets... so of course if a macklemore song is getting a TON of spins on multiple formats + it's #2 on itunes + it's getting a ton of requests on pop radio, it will end up being the #1 rap song. the rule change essentially made genre charts irrelevant. the genre charts now show you the most popular [insert genre here] song in the country. if you want to see which artists/songs are the most popular on actual genre stations, you have to look at the genre airplay charts.
Bill's not leaving Billboard. Which I'm glad he's not. But I hope Janice Min will be able to push Billboard into a new direction. I feel like Billboard needs to get more in with the times and attract a wider audience, while still at the core being a music magazine/website.
