It really doesnt matter. And even then, Taylor has a huge fanbase in Canada, Australia, Asia and the UK, so she would survive if the US suddenly turned on her, which i dont think would happen just so randomly!

#10 ? Yeah, while it's not as bad as France, it's definitely quite mediocre. I suppose it could go gold eventually if it doesn't keep falling.

Rihanna's last went only Gold. Same for Katy, she peaked at No.4 and struggled to go Gold,
ARTPOP didn't even reach that.
I just don't know why the OP calls the sound of his own "fave" manufactured???

Rih's last album was her most Urban one to date and still it sold amount the same as TTT in Europe.
Rih is huge here let's not deny.
Gaga used to be, Katy... hmm I hear her on the radio but no one really talks about her.
It's just that Europe ain't really here for the 'girl next door' image, they love extravaganza.
Or Adele.

But but but..... if global #s don't matter, then why does She keep trying to be a global act whatever it takes if being "global" doesn't matter?

Its doing quite well in Spain actually compared to other releases:
1989: 4-10
PRISM: 3-14
ARTPOP: 3-17
Unapologetic: 9-15

Because she wants to expand her reach and have bigger tours. That´s why she is doing 2 arena dates in Germany, for example!

Wow, they're really not here for female pop-stars, I mean compare those chart-runs to 1D's last release :
01-02-02-02-02-04-04-06-06-09-10

I wrote it in French because this thread is about France
Okay so what I said was that Taylor's music is usually about her short relationships with guys, it's very pop sounding and reflects more of an American perspective. Taylor is too American, she is blond, skinny, pretty. I love her don't get me wrong but the French are known to either like philosophical or serious music (like London Grammar, Birdy and Lykke Li come as examples of dark-sounding artists that have had smash singles there recently) or completely stupid one hit wonders. There is no much room for artists in between those categories like Taylor.

'I follow rivers' was my jam.
And yeah, you're kind of right. The 25 year old acting like a Disney girl image just won't cut it.
