And yeah, I guess It's Britney, Bitch is moderately well known. Though that doesn't salvage Blackout having no tour, which ends up being the tipping point when the album and single sales are too close to call.
Is that a bad thing? Sorry Lady Gaga is competent enough to promote her material. I won't touch your touring comment. it's like you're totally unaware of who you stan for
|
Are you dumb? Blackout didn't have a tour because Britney was literally in a hospital under psychiatric evaluation. Britney performed a song 1 time and then acted like she didn't even have an album out. She never mentioned it, never gave interviews, etc. She didn't care.

Applause was a way bigger hit, hence why it stayed in the top 10 for 15 weeks. Do What U Want was also a bigger hit WW (top 10 in 19 countries) than Piece of Me (top 10 in 13).
ARTPOP did better in 2013 than Blackout did in 2007.
ARTPOP literally outsold Blackout in most countries with the exception of the US, Russia and possibly Australia.

The only promo spots are the VMAs and GMA, stop lying!!!
SNL wasn't a performance it was a sketch and it wasn't a promo spot so is the muppet special
And let's say all of these were promo spots (they aren't!!) what's wrong with that?
ARTPOP 2m in 2013 > 2.5m in 2007 & it charted better in year-end lists despite being in a worse climate.

Applause was also leaked a week before its official release and it managed to sell 218k first week without 7 days of availability

Award show performances, radio deals, music videos, etc don't guarantee success (see Pretty Girls)
OT: ARTPOP by far, as shown by the IFPI

Gimme More was bigger than the lead from ARTPOP and Blackout sold platinum.

ARTPOP had a million promo performances and didn't outsell an album that only had 1. It's Britney Bitch is also more iconic and memorable than anything from Artpop. Britney wins!

Yeah the army can't use that excuse anymore,
"If Britney promoted she'll be successful"
And then Pretty Girls came which had a radio deal + a performance....

Gaga was the biggest star in the world 2 years prior to the release of Applause and was coming off an album that sold 7m worldwide
Britney peaked a decade ago and was coming off an album that bombed worldwide
You can't compare the two

Imma have to go with the #1 album, because selling 2M in 2013 >> selling 2,5M in 2007.
As posted by a member before, ARTPOP made the top 10 best selling albums of 2013 list, while Blackout didn't even crack the top 30 back in 2007.
Objectively speaking, ARTPOP.

Blackout sold platinum in about 8 years.
ARTPOP might also be at around 1 million 6 years from now

Actually, it was put on iTunes hours after it leaked. The leak is what caused it to go up a week early, not the other way around. Suddenly the Koons is you.
