Russian and Eastern European in general are the absolute pits of any cuisines. Super bland and appalling. The only thing they ever flavour their food with is salt and pepper. + most of their food is conserves of some sorts or something drained in salt and dried.

I agree on the east of Europe (EXCEPT FOR GEORGIA) having tragic food, but you can't call the Italian cuisine one-dimensional. It deeply varies from region to region, and we use pretty much anything the land and the sea give to us. If you've never been here, of course you only know the dishes they serve on an international level... I'm pretty sure you've never tried ostrich or horse meat, typical of my province (Cremona) huh?
