1. He stays on message, something Trump had a problem doing. So if Trump keeps making mistakes, at the very least he will only have to clean himself up and not his VP as well. At best Pence could provide stability in the Trump camp they desperately need

2. Big republican donors like Pence. They were either gonna sit this election out completely (like the Koch brothers signaled) or they were going to go with Clinton, somethings she was looking forward to wth Bush's rich donors. Now it's much more likely they'll eventually flock to him

3. Pence is a hardline conservative who would do the most to ease Republicans who still are lukewarm toward Trump. It may not win them all, but it could be enough in swing states to keep him realistically in the game

4. Pence gives Trump credibility in his "Midwest" tactic he needs if he is to win the election. Hes down in al of the swing states in this region but having someone who is from the region does help him, even slightly, with gathering votes from that region. A smart choice

5. Pence is, from what I read, a very good debater and a great counter puncher. He wouldn't be afraid to attack Clinton and her VP head on. Donald may flop in debates but Pence wouldn't be easily dismissed

Overall a good pick for him if you're a republican, a neutral pick if you're an independent or democrat (compared to what you could have picked).

This pick I feel like essentially locks out Warren and Brown as Hillary's VP however. Though I figured you all knew those two weren't going to be picked anyway

Plus this means Hillary's probably gonna pick Boring Tim Kaine

Him picking Pence, coupled with the fact that we now have a competitive Governors race and now Senate race with Bayh jumping in, here in Indiana, might actually have the effect of putting it in play for Hillary. Everyone hates Pence here, democrats, independents, and even a healthy amount of republicans. She needs to buy some ad time here ASAP, and put Indiana in her list of the 10-15 states that they're really focusing on. She could pull it off at this point.

Kaine was with Hillary today at an event in Virginia, he did really well, I liked what I saw of him.

He had a really great bit where he asked the audience three questions.

1. Do you want a You're Fired President or a You're Hired President?

2. Do you want a trash talker President or a bridge builder President?

3. Do you want a me-first President or a kids and families-first President?

It all played very well in the crowd. I imagine we might be hearing those a lot if he's picked as VP.

Warren was never under serious contention unless she felt she needed the progressive left vote. With the good news in the polls ever since the end of the primaries there was no need to pick her. That was her true upside. All of the other positives Hillary could get from her, she could get from other VP picks that are more comfortable to her

If it's Kaine then she better win this damn election

Eh, I wouldn't be surprised if they still support him since they pretty much settled on gay marriage and no other LGBT stuff. The fact that Trump could potentially turn against them doesn't seem to faze them since they don't weigh heavily compared to gays on the left.

I always thought Booker would be an excellent choice but I guess we need a boring white guy to balance the ticket out.

He would be a great choice, but it has nothing to do with needing a "boring white guy" on the ticket. If you actually educated yourself on the matter, you'd know that he would not be a viable option because Christie is the governor of NJ and would select Booker's replacement to serve out the remaining two years of his term. We can't afford to hand that senate seat over to the GOP for two years.

Clinton has told her people that she's more than willing to give up his seat if he adds excitement to the ticket and helps her win the White House

So that wouldn't be a problem to her.

I was willing to give Kaine a chance today, but after what I saw, god he is boring.

After a year and a half of this never ending election, it needs new life and Pence/Kaine aren't the ones to do it.

This. I love Hillary, but I would rather the VP be the more exciting person on the ticket because Hillary is going to struggle with bringing that aspect in her campaign and Kaine is not the one to correct it.
