I hate surgery. Luckily, if it happens, it'll probably be done laparoscopically so there will be minimal scarring.

That's for patients with renal failure, normally. My left kidney is functioning fine and the majority of my right kidney is fine for the most part. They just want to remove the damaged portion and try to spare the rest of it.
