Interview Scenarios There were different lists of top questions to ask in an interview but I figure asking difficult scenarios and problem solving is much more interesting than those short answer questions.
Mr. K had made up these scenarios so don't get upset if it doesn't match completely to the real world.
Scenario 1:
What if you are the vice-executive of a furniture manufacturing company in Northern California, USA and you are asked to make an important decision regarding importing resources. Your company normally purchases wood from five [5] timber companies all in Northern Alaska (USA), each supplying different types of natural wood for $15,000 a month. Shipping fee is moderate. Supplies of timber wood come in cargoes ships by boats.
Extreme weather had caused two [2] of the five timber companies to shut down. As a consequence, your company suffered a loss of supplies of two [2] different types of natural wood. Now you must find one or two timber companies for replacing your lost supplies. The executive passed the decision to you and gave you four timber companies as options. All alternative timber companies deliver the same amount of wood supply per month.
Alternative Timber 1:
This timber company is located in Southern Alaska (USA), supplying both of the two [2] types of natural wood that your company need. This company sells wood for $20,000 a month and delivery comes five [5] times a month. The company requires you to sign a two-year contract before shipping any wood cargo. Shipping cost is moderate.
Alternative Timber 2:
This timber company is located in Montana (USA) and it delivers only one [1] type of wood supply a month. You will need to wait two months in between before the shipment of same type of wood supply comes again. This company sells wood for $30,000 a month and delivery comes ten [10] timbers a month. There is no shipping cost. This company does not require a contract.
Alternative Timber 3:
This timber company is located in Northern Canada and it supplies all types natural wood possible. As the largest timber company in Canada and one of the world largest suppliers of natural wood, the company is extremely reputable. However, this company sells wood for $50,000 a month and delivery comes three [3] times a month; and this company charges the highest shipping cost. This company requires you to sign a one-year contract before making any shipment of timber.
Alternative Timber 4:
This timber company is located in Eastern Russia and it supplies both of the two [2] types of natural wood that your company need. This company sells wood for $10,000 a month and delivery comes five [10] times a month. This company does not require a contract and shipping fee is greater than most companies.

Decide on which one or two timber companies you will chose to supply you with the two types of natural wood supply your company desperately need.
There are no right or wrong answers to this problem, the most important thing is your explanation!!
Consider geography, shipping cost, contract, and use all information wisely in your explanation!!
