A midtempo ballad would be something like the songs Stargate, Toby Gad and Ryan Tedder specialized in in 07-09. At a push, Diamonds, Almost Home and Just Give Me a Reason would qualify.
Beautiful doesn't really sound like any of those songs, does it? It sounds like a midtempo quasi doowop number from the 60s.
