They would be stupid to do that. WANEGBT smashed iTunes records and went 4 Plat in the US. Best Song Ever went 1 Plat in the US and just Gold in the UK. No-one will want to release their lead single in the same week as Taylor and no-one will want to release their album the same week LP5 drops. Might as well schedule it for the week before or month after if you are chasing a no 1 chart position and the media attention that comes with that.

Midnight Memories has just sold over 1.36 million copies in the US so far after being out for 6months or so. Red sold more than that after just 2 weeks.

I can see 1D being flopped this time
First, I was worried at all that 1D easily chased Taylor with an album a year release
I mean, Speak Now didnt even double Up All Night's album sales, but their decline is real, and I'm confident to say their album will struggle to reach Platinum in US this time, because ppl are already bored with them

US album sales: Up All Night 1,889,000 & Take Me Home 1,850,000 by @onedirection.

4.400.000-1.889.000= 2.511.000

By the time Taylor's album is release they haven't publicly dated in almost 2 years. Perhaps, Taylor will have a new guy on her arm.

Also, it's Harry or his PR that allows the Media to ask him questions about Taylor. They could stop it if they want to. The US media doesn't even talk about him unless he's in the country .

I doubt their next album will sell 500k. I read this article where the father said his daughter begged him for 1D concert tix last year. This year she's moved on to Artic Monkeys.
